This year's honorees include: The National Center

Sports Federation (EGLSF), former NFL player Dave Kopay,

“Our Legacy Dinner Honorees are committed to fighting gender
discrimination and homophobia and to promoting opportunities of
inclusion and participation in sport for all the LGBT
community,” said Kathleen Webster, Co-President of the
Federation of Gay Games. “Each, in their own way, supports the
Federation’s mission to create social and political change
through sport and culture. They deserve our thanks and
recognition.”
The Legacy Dinner will celebrate the
creation of the Gay Games by 1968 Olympic decathlete Dr. Tom
Waddell and first held in San Francisco in 1982. Since then,
the quadrennial Gay Games has grown into one of the largest
sporting and cultural events in the world as well as a
significant and ongoing milestone in the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual,
and Transgender community. Subsequent Games were held in 1986
(San Francisco), 1990 (Vancouver), 1994 (New York City), 1998
(Amsterdam), 2002 (Sydney), and 2006 (Chicago). The 2010 Gay
Games will be held in Cologne, Germany.
The Legacy Dinner will feature celebrity athletes and guests,
including Wilson Cruz (Noah's Arc, My So-Called Life, RENT),
the comedian ANT (Last Comic Standing, U.S. of Ant, Celebrity
Fit Club), and 1984 Olympic gold medal swimmer Bruce Hayes.
San Francisco Supervisor Bevan Dufty and Sara Waddell Lewinstein
are serving as the Honorary Co-Chairs of the Dinner.
”The Legacy Dinner will be our opportunity to acknowledge the
impressive history of the Gay Games,” said Waddell Lewinstein.
“It is our chance to thank the many people who have worked
tirelessly to make Tom's dream into a reality.”
Sponsors of the event include Gold sponsor AT&T and Silver
sponsors Kile Ozier, Orbitz and the Bob Ross Foundation. Funds
from the Dinner will support the ongoing work of the FGG as
preparations for Gay Games VIII in 2010 in Cologne, Germany
continue to move forward.
