Going … going … Bonds!

barry_bonds_young.jpgMLB home run king Barry Bonds (right, when he was a lot lighter) has been indicted, not for taking steroids, but for federal perjury and obstruction of justice charges. On ESPN, several reporters close to Bonds, the San Francisco Giants and this story are saying they are shocked, as they felt this issue was closed. Either a sad day or a happy day, depending on what you think of Bonds.

How big is this story? The White House has already weighed in, saying, “The President is very disappointed to hear this.” I’d say it’s a very big story. -Cyd Zeigler jr.

    Hahahaha, great picture of Bonds.

I’ve never had the animus towards Bonds that some have –I long ago quit expecting athletes or musicians or entertainers in general to be nice warm and fuzzy personalities– but I think it’s really sad what’s happened to his career because in the early 90′s with the Pirates, he *was* amazing; I’ve read the reason he started juicing in earnest is because he was jealous of the attention that McGwire and Sosa got during their home-run record chase. How fucking sad would that be if it were true?

Oh, and damn you for posting this before I got a chance to do so. Damn East Coast time zone bias!

I’m not sure that the 49ers much care – but the Giants probably have a strong opinion. . .

As big as Bonds is? The 49ers should care! They need help at linebacker. :)

Good catch. Sometimes you write an item so quickly, something like that just slips past you.
