One gay man’s shining moment

It struck me as pretty cool Monday evening when I heard the name announced at the end of the Men’s NCAA Basketball Tournament that it is a gay man now singing “One Shining Moment” every early April on CBS. Luther Vandross was quietly gay (tough to call him closeted) before he died; and very soon before he died, he recorded the version of the song that has been used since 2003. Playing that song at the end of the tournament has been a tradition for a long time, and I’ve personally seen straight fraternity boys get teary-eyed when it comes on. Luther’s lasting legacy . . . -Cyd Zeigler jr.

That’s funny, the Wikipedia article about Vandross doesn’t say anything about that… must be that “neutral point of view” they insist on over there

Maybe we need a pedia of our own…
