From the Miami Herald:
Efrain Veiga, founder of Yuca restaurant and co-creator of Nuevo Latino cuisine, and partner Billy Bean (photo), a former Major League Baseball player, have split after 13 years. ”Sometimes things don’t work out,” Veiga says. “There’s still love.”
Says Bean: “It’s a very difficult period, and we’re both trying to get through it. I care deeply about him.”
Their Miami Beach home on North Bay Road is for sale — for $1.595 million.
Bean gained national attention in 1999 when he revealed in a front page story in the New York Times that he was gay. He remains one of the handful of American pro athletes to reveal they are gay, though none have done it while playing. He has been a friend of Outsports since we started. Bean, 44, is a real estate agent. –Jim Buzinski

How do you react when you find your partner of 13 years brazilian trick dead in your bed?.Efrain Veiga’s brazilian trick whom he picked up at a gay bar in South Beach died of GHB overdoze in Veiga/Bean’s bed.It is being hushed by the police and a great deal of money is being transferred to some Miami Beach officials bank accounts.It is kind of dificult to overcome even on an semiopen relationship.

That’s B.S. Bean and Veiga already split before that incident; they were living in separate apartments.

WOW is that true? If it is then it sure speaks volumes about how little respect there was in that relationship. Guess they had me fooled. 13 years is a good run though. I understand that some people go their separate ways after a while but cheating on your partner is probably the ultimate way to tell your partner that they never really knew you.

I have met them both and honestly neither of them ever looked like they were in love to begin with. An open relationship is a relationship that has ended anyway.
Billy is one handsome man with a great heart (you can see it in his eyes and actions) and he will find love again with someone he will make very happy.
