World’s fastest man: Tyson Homosexual

I was doing a Google News search of “Olympic + homosexual” to see if there was any news regarding gays and the upcoming Games. It was then I learned that sprinter Tyson Gay had actually changed his name, at least on one website:

homosexualblog3.jpg

OneNewsNow, where these links point to, is an online new site run by the rabidly anti-gay American Family Association based in Tupelo, Miss. It describes its mission as “Your latest news from a Christian perspective.”

Apparently, they have set a filter to change many instances of “gay” to “homosexual,” which is how Tyson Gay, who set a record in the 100-meter dash this weekend, changed his name. This occurs on searches and on their home page, but the actual AP story linked from the site does use “Tyson Gay.” Headline writers everywhere are delighted the name change is only virtual. –Jim Buzinski

I’ve known many Homosexuals; I wonder if he’s related to them??

ha ha, the funny thing is they seem to fix the headline, but then if you move your mouse so the hint becomes visible over the headline, it will say Tyson Homosexual in the text displayed in the hint.

The whole thing is hilarious. A poster on another site said that Gay was so fast, he would be a “Flaming Homosexual.”

That really is hilarious. Framing run amok. So, they think “homosexual” is an inherently more negative term than “gay?” If you’re a bigot, I think you’re at least capable of figuring out these terms are synonymous.

And assuming Tyson Gay is not actually gay, could he sue them for slander?

Saw this on another wesbite in reaction to our item:

And while they may have fixed this particular instance, it looks like they haven’t gone back through their archives and corrected other articles where this happened, such as this article where professional basketball player Rudy Gay is referred to as “Rudy Homosexual.”

Too funny. Yet another example of religious zealotry making a laughingstock of the Religious Wrong. As they say, pride goeth before a fall.

@Urban Runoff: I would be surprised if Tyson Gay even takes public note of this mishap, other than to have a good laugh at the joke. If he did sue, however, it would have to be a claim for libel, given that the alleged offense took place in print. It’s quite unlikely that a modern court would find any merit in such a case anyway, since being identified as gay is no longer considered inherently harmful, malicious or shameful.

I think he should sue them for stupidity. Slam-dunk win if you ask me.

They did the same thing to “Rudy Gay” on Friday:

I needed a check up, but didn’t have a Dr, so I picked Dr Gay from the HMO list. I know it sounds dumb, bit I figured what the hell. He is a marathoner like me, sweet, funny and too cute to believe. Unfortunately gay in name only. He did offer the digital rectal exam though. I turned him down, I’m not 50 yet.

So, they think “homosexual” is an inherently more negative term than “gay?”

Yeah, they *do* think “homosexual” is a more negative term because it has “sex” in it, and as we know, sex is icky, no matter the genders involved; it’s pushing that prude button for their audience.

Thanks for giving me a much-needed guffaw! Now, if my Rays can hang onto their 4-2 lead (in the top of the 7th) to take Game 1 of the series I can go to be slightly less miserable than I do normally….

Urban Runoff asks, “And assuming Tyson Gay is not actually gay, could he sue them for slander?”

No, for four reasons. (1) Term definition: speech is slanderous, publication is libelous. (2) Since Lawrence v. Texas in 2003, no legal action based on the idea that calling someone homosexual is ipso facto libelous has been sustained anywhere in the U.S. (3) The statement must have been intentional, or at least with reckless disregard, to be libelous. (4) Tyson Gay is a public figure; public figures must prove a more rigorous standard of libel than a non-public figure.

Does AFA’s website change all instances of “gay” to “homosexual”? If so, do they now insist the name of the plane in WWII that dropped the atomic bomb on Japan was called the “Enola Homosexual”?

Just be happy they didn’t make the mistake on this headline: “Gay takes it like a champ”
or this one: “Gay is world’s fastests man, beating meet after coming in just 9.68 seconds after the start of the competition”

Or on a caption of a Rudy Gay dunk : “Gay slams it in the hole”

    Or this one:
Fatigue, Poor Ballhandling, and inability to shoot sour Gay’s relationship with Michael Heisley

ROFL (he is the owner of the Memphis Grizzlies btw for anyone who doesn’t know).

Sorry if this has been pointed out to you earlier, Mr. Buzinski, but I can’t resist to do it here as it goes too well with the topic of this post.

“Buzi” means “gay” in Hungarian (”faggot”, actually, “buzi” is a very rude word). That would make you Jim Homosexualinski for Hungarian language publications.

I had never known that, Hungarian Guy! Thanks for the linguistic lesson.

It’s people like this that make me hate religion entirely. Bigoted pricks who think that their views are the only views, and turn around slandering others. I bet if one of us called those jesus-freaks a bad name just based on their name, they’d get mad and try to sue.

    Pathetic.

    Speaking of history –

there is that great finale to the Victorian era, called the Homosexual Nineties. With a label like that, the Victorians couldn’t have been all prudish.

Folks,i am really afraid of this world we live in today. I see men w/ men. child molesting, incest, women w/women,cruel people who kill the weak, I am not a religious person but it don’t take a rocket scientist,or a brain surgeon to figure out we are heading up a one way street. you have religious people praying on the elderly and weak for money. we have political figures with no morals and run the world killing people just because they can. i know it is out there and alway out there but it seems worse now. people are actually proud they are evil, and want me to feel bad because i don’t agree with queers, male or female. well folks i don’t and never will it ain’t natural and it is a sin against nature. if you do something long enough and with the same mind set as yours then you can make believe it’s alright and normal. but down deep in your soul and heart even you know it’s wrong. it is so sad that these type and kind of people should be allowed to occupy space on the earth. i am trying to sort out the reason a person sins against them selves. I wish i knew, but i don’t and no one else does either. Queers are made not born, the thought of your own pleasure over rides normal sense. being a peter puffer, and or a carpet muncher is a choice, not something pushed on you,but it is a choice made by you. i don’t feel sorry for you,i don’t feel anything for you,not even pity. what you are speaks so loud,i can’t hear what you say.

Poor sad James Martin Lafoe. You know Martin, Ive met a lot of guys like you. The fact is that the abuse I suffered as a boy happened in a Catholic Boys home, and at the hands of Catholic, straight, priests and workers.

And the man who molested my younger sister was a straight Catholic priest, who was chased out of our parish when my mother brought it to the attention of the local parish nuns. The only sin is that your God breathed life into people like you, bigoted, self-hating people who call themselves spiritual, but whose only goal is to control everyone around them.

It is strange that you seem to know all the negative words about gay people, and you use them, and yet you dare talk about “sin”. If you don’t like gay people then you wouldn’t be here.

What you are experiencing is called internalized homophobia. It is a defense mechanism, scientific fact. You’re a carpet muncher too! :)

I’m not christian but I have read the bible a fiew times. And

Just maby if he read what he preached maby he wouldn’t go and prove himself an Idiot!
