The other day, Sarah’s Palin’s handlers thought her ”hockey mom” image would get her an easy goal at at the Philly Flyers game, where she’d been invited to drop the puck. But the sports spin really backspun on the vice presidential candidate. The minute her name was announced, the crowd erupted into loud boos and whistles, almost drowning out the announcer. According to the Huffington Post, Fox News tried to fuzz the sound so the boos were less obvious — but there’s just no fuzzing the negative energies that came at the lady from what looked like a majority of Democrat fans in the crowd. The video is available at the Post and YouTube for all to see.

The Comcast SportsNet coverage didn’t play up the booing…I heard a little, not much, on my TV. But I did think it was shameless the way Scott Gomez, who took the faceoff for the visiting Rangers, was playing up to “his” governor.

Comcast owns both the Flyers and 76ers as well as the CoreStates…First Union…Wachovia…presumably-soon-to-be-Wells-Fargo Center and Comcast Sportsnet. With Ed Snider, chairman of Comcast-Spectacor, being a major right-winger, there was little chance that the booing would be covered in depth.
The Phila. Inquirer on Sunday said that loud music was deliberately played to try and drown out the crowd. One item in the Phila. Daily News today described it as 70 percent boos/30 percent cheers.

This would be news, save for the fact that she was booed in Philly
