He was only acquired by the Philadelphia Phillies on Aug. 30th, just in time to be eligible for the postseason. So, asked a question in the press conference about feeling like part of the team after his 8th-inning two-run, pinch-hit homer — a total BOMB deep into the right field bleachers — gave the Phillies a 7-5 win over the Dodgers and a 3-1 lead in the N.L. Championship Series, Matt Stairs had this interesting comment:
“You want to get that one big hit where you feel like you’re part of the team … not that I don’t feel like I’m part of the team, by no means, but when you get that nice celebration coming into the dugout and you’re getting your ass hammered by guys, it’s no better feeling than to have that done.”
Matt, win the World Series this year and I promise you all the ass-hammering you want! (By the way, Stairs is Canadian and hit his homer on Canada’s Thanksgiving Day, which is now also Philadelphia’s Thanksgiving Day as well.)

I know I came up with the “Stairs likes it in the rear” title, but still, I have to say that the line on the home page linking to this item that says Stairs “equated the reaction in the dugout to anal sex” is off-base. Obviously he was talking about the usual slaps to the butt that athletes are so quick to give each other.

Wow, now that’s quite a choice of words. I too like a good tap on the ass now and then. But I wouldn’t share those intimate details of my life with ESPN.
I think there needs to be an Outsports.com ‘Man of the Week’. & ‘Man of the Weak’
One giving props to comments like this. The other condemning the nasties who campaign for Prop8 and the like.

Joe… no need to be rational.. just let us have our fantasy about him being hammered in the ass by guys.. because he’s right, there IS no better feeling than that.

No pic of Matt?? I thought he was a hot bearish type with thick athletic features when he spent some time here in Milwaukee a few years back, and a few more years haven’t dulled that smolder.
