Yeah, this is up to the Onion’s usual standard on spoofs. It’s amazing how many people thought it was for real. It makes all the right points about how silly the homophobia is in human sports. The footage is pretty convincing, though the stable doesn’t have an A-list look, and the trainer looks a little awkward brushing the horse.
And there’s no Ship’s Captain entered in any of the Breeder’s Cup races.
Speaking of the Cup, a friend and I will have breakfast at the track tomorrow and watch some of the works. But I’ll be watching the races on TV. For the Classic, I like Casino Drive. Now and then I catch the late-night races from Hong Kong and Japan, and have watched this horse emerge out of the Asian scene. Among the ladies, it’s hard not to like Zenyatta…and Precious Kitten, who will hopefully beat the boys in the mile.
