I’ve never been a Kobe Bryant fan, but he’s won me over with this great TV commercial for Guitar Hero IV. He is the perfect lead singer in the ad for a four-man band with Alex Rodriguez, Michael Phelps and Tony Hawk. The earnestness and enthusiasm Bryant pretends to bring to the performance is just perfect. Though, it is a little disappointing that their boxers are considerably longer than Tom Cruise’s underwear from Risky Business.

Funny, I had the exact opposite reaction — another commercial with 4 sports gazillionaires getting paid more zillions to plug something completely adolescent. Business as usual.

Strange choice of guys for the ad. While Kobe and A-Rod are probably two of the more recognizable athletes today, I’m not sure how well they are actually liked or admired.
