My headline is a bit ironic. Before Sunday’s Atlanta Falcons at Minnesota Vikings game, Esera Tuaolo sang the National Anthem. Tuaolo, who came out as gay in 2002, lives in Minnesota and played for the Vikings. He also played for the Atlanta Falcons and was on the field in January 1999 when the Falcons stunned the Vikings, 30-27, to win the NFC Championship Game. The Falcons also won again Sunday, giving them a playoff spot and denying the Vikings one for now. If I was Atlanta, I would have Tuaolo somewhere in the building any time they play the Vikings.

Actually it was the ’98 NFC championship game, for the bowl game later. And that win was on Morten Andersen’s leg, and not anything else. Well, except maybe Viqueens miscues. Both teams played balls out, and well..the better team won in the end. Just like last Sunday.
