Brady Quinn punched in face by teammate

If true, it’s a crime against beauty — Cleveland Browns coach Romeo Crennell won’t confirm or deny that injured quarterback Brady Quinn was punched in the face by defensive lineman Shaun Smith in the team’s weight room. Various reports say Smith hit Quinn with his fist or with a weight. If true, it would be the hardest hit Smith administered this season.

“If it happened, we’re keeping it in house,” Crennel said. This sounds like it certainly did happen and at least one player, Darnell Dinkins, confirmed there was a fight and that Quinn’s face was marked. The coach did reveal that Smith got into a confrontation with another player at practice recently. Smith was on the Browns’ inactive roster Sunday and Crennell would not say whether the player was hurt or if he sat for other reasons.

Quinn has been inactive since breaking his finger and few weeks ago and he has been wearing a splint ever since (see Quinn with his splint). If Smith did punch Quinn, it was the act of a coward to hit a guy who can’t fight back. No way Smith is a Brown after this season.

I see three possible reasons for Smith whacking Quinn:

  1. He is jealous of the player Outsports named the NFL’s hottest in 2007 (and who will be on my 2008 list).
  2. He is an Obama supporter upset that Quinn endorsed McCain-Palin.
  3. He is a jerk with anger issues who likes hitting people who are injured.

Of course, on every website that has this, the usual Quinn-gay innuendo is all over the place.

I used to be a fan of the Hunky Closeted Quinn, but after finding out he endorsed that Post Turtle, Sorry Excuse for a female Pit Bull, Palin. I find it hard to root for him. Good for Smith, Shaun should have not only punched Quinn but also kicked him in the McNuggets!! BUT, I still wouldn’t kick Quinn off the bed for eating crackers!! :)

Totally agree. Quinn is still a hot boy, but his appeal took a nose dive when I found out he supported McSame/Dingbat.

I sure hope that after he slugged him, Smith said “Now I’m done”.

Disagree. Not everyone has to be smitten with the messiah and his clinton hacks. Also, what does who he supported have to do with some clown punching him in the face or smacking him with a weight?

There is another possible rationale for the slugfest…that Smith is a ‘roid monster. And if not that, he’s another lamentable example of “thug-ism” that seems to have taken over the league of late. Of course, the NFL has been doing such a good job policing its members.

Or, Brady Quinn could’ve simply been acting like a trailer park a$$hole and got a welcome to the big leagues. This ain’t Notre Dame!!

Personal disdain for Notre Dame and McCain/Palin aside, I never liked Quinn nor felt he possessed any NFL quality abilities. All hype. All glory.

That said, the mention of his “beauty” is subjective, at best. He looks like a feminine version of his sister, Laura. Great body though.

I always felt Quinn had narcissistic image issues (anybody remember his demeanor during the draft?) and I’m assuming that particular character flaw is probably why he was deserving of Shaun Smith’s retaliation.

If anybody cares to initiate contributions in helping defray the costs of Smith’s fine, I’d be more than happy to contribute.

I admired Quin until he endorsed Mc”SeeRussiafromAlaska”
Well Smith keep your anger issues in check men. Browns Suck!!
Big time. It will take a Miami style overhaul to get that team back.
