Who needs computers or chains? Paint large lines every five yards as they do now, but paint thin lines EVERY yard up and down the field so the refs can see it with their own eyes.

There is anywhere that does need computers to make calls, it's baseball. Umpires are infamous for shifting and changing the size of strike zones, calling zones that favour or discriminate agaisnt certain pitchers and batters. It's ridiculous how subtly biased many of them are.

Football wouldn't lose the drama with more accuracy. I liken it to tenths of a second being added to scoreboards in basketball. That didn't kill the drama of a last-second shot; it just made determining whether the shot was good more accurate.

We don't live in a perfect world. I like the chains. It adds drama and suspense to the games.

Funny you posted this. The sticks have been a pet peeve of mine for a while. With so much room for error (placement of the ball, running across the field, etc.), how do you then say someone is only an inch away from getting the down? It bewilders me.
