blueraider if they played each other, then yes. But we know that’s IMPOSSIBLE so you have to look at SOS which Utah doesn’t have over the guys at the top now. Utah as a #1 is not even a discussion point.

If the college football regular season is a playoff, isn’t Utah the only team left standing right now? Is no one impressed by the smackdown that they put on a team that was ranked #1 for over a month?

I agree that Texas should have been the team to come out of the South Division also. Alas, if only the Horns D’d up for one more play against Tech…..

blueraider Texas beat three ranked teams (OU, OSU, Mizzou) and you would put Utah ahead of them because they went unbeaten? Yea, I get your logic. BTW, did I mention that Texas beat #1 OU on a neutral field?

We hear over and over again that a playoff would be great because it lets the teams decide, on the field, who’s best. Well the SEC championship game did just that, and Alabama lost. Then you turn around and say Alabama is the best team in the SEC anyway. Forgive me if I’m having trouble connecting the dots.

Team has undefeated season beating three ranked teams, not to mention Oregon State…and in any other year a win in the Big House @ Michigan would be considered a big feather in the cap.

Sounds like a team that deserves to be mentioned for a national championship to me. (If college football ever had one, that is.)

You’re right Cyd. After thinking about it more, I jumped on the credibility bandwagon unnecessarily. We all have our opinions. That’s what makes watching sports fun. Sorry for the blast. I still disagree with you on the BCS (see blog comments in another blog entry). I think Texas has a better claim than the other teams you mention but remember, only an opinion. Anyway, Texas tomorrow night in the Fiesta Bowl. Hook ‘Em Horns!

Every opinion is biased. We all formulate opinions based on what we see, how we feel, etc…. My feelings on Alabama and Florida have nothing to do with the BCS; I hadn’t even considered it until you mentioned it. But now that you mention it, I love it!! Texas? Sure, they have a claim to be there as much as USC, Florida, Oklahoma, Utah, Alabama or any of 8-10 teams.

Cyd you have a record of some pretty biased opinions in college football that don’t track with the overall schedule. You cite one game and that seems to set your opinion for this one.

The bowls have been fun to watch but going out on a huge limb and claiming Alabama as the best team in the SEC seems to be more about your anti-BCS campaign than anything. Just calling ‘em like I see ‘em.

Regarding OU in the National Championship game I agree they are the wrong team. But you’re gonna claim my Texas bias for saying the Horns should be there. But Utah? Huh? What gives them the credibility to be there over Texas? Back to top of this comment.

Because I disagree with you on the best team in the SEC my credibility is shot? Lol. I’m sure you would have said the same thing if I had picked Utah to beat Alabama by two TDs, or USC to outscore Penn State by 24 in the first half, or Boise State to beat Oklahoma a couple years ago. I can hear it now: “There you go again Cyd, showing us you know nothing about college football.” It’s not “uncredible” to think a team that DIDN’T lose to Mississippi AT HOME is the best team in its conference. So why not just say “I disagree”? Why take it to “Your credibility is shot”? You might as well save that for when I say, “I think Stanford will run the table to a National Championship.”

I completely agree. Cyd, your views on college football are quickly losing credibility. Besides I don’t think a team’s unbeaten record automatically qualifies them as the #1 team in the nation. Utah would be a contender I agree but I’m not going to anoint them just because they haven’t lost. MWC is a mid-level conference.
