Kurt Warner is worried you’re going to hell.

A bunch of indy filmmakers have set out on a mission to show the mysteries and controversy behind the identity of God, as seen by our culture and society. The film is called God In The Box. One of those they talk to is Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner, a devout Christian. One of them asks Warner if he’s worried that his friends and teammates who don’t lead Christian lives will go to hell.

No question. Especially when it comes to family members. There’s no doubt about it. I’m very, very worried about it. I’ve done numerous things along the way to try to lead them down the path that I believe leads to salvation, but many times to no avail.

In another clip, it’s obvious he didn’t take art classes past the third grade . . .

Hat tip to Towleroad.

Please tell me this is SNL and that’s Andy Samberg doing a spot on impression. He’s drawing God but mistakenly draws Jesus? Who writes this stuff?

That drawing looks similar to the primitives done by artists before perspective became better understood.

I’m more concerned he may stumble onto some facts that dispute his simplistic view of life and hurt his feelings than that his teammates will go to hell.

I just can’t say whether they’re tears of laughter or despair that predominate on my soaked cheeks, the facial ones. But soon (and aren’t we now overly blessed by Jesus with a present & future full of intolerantly ignorant professional sports figureheads?) young Master Tebow, who has been fumigating the playing fields & locker rooms of NCAA Football with his fundamentalist hybridized smoke & mirrors of a violently combative contact sport melded with the gentle love of Jesus (who was born, don’t you know, in red, white & blue swaddling clothes wearing a cute little Gator helmet?) that one & only Tebow, Inc. is getting ready to preach his chosen path to football success as an adherence to Christ’s principles. Won’t that be special?

How dare Kurt talk about faith and salvation in a documentary about faith and salvation! How dare he draw a bad picture of God just because some filmmaker asked him to draw a picture of God! How dare Kurt honestly answer a direct question about salvation and hell just because he was asked! Doesn’t he know that will just upset the ignorant and hateful people?! Funny how so many people will bust the chops of people like Kurt and Tebow — because of their faith and good works; but those same people never say anything bad about the Mike Tysons, Pacman Jones and other people who spread hate and violence. Easier to mock those who try to be good and who try to teach loving qualities, huh? Shame on you.

Isnt the concept of tolerance generally one of live and let live? Alot of gays need to remember this, we cant scream intolerance because someone, heaven forbid, hold a contrary view. Attacking Tebow or Warner for expressing their faith is ridiculous and immature.

    dandydon,

No one is busting the chops of people like Tony Dungy or Kurt Warner for any good works they may have committed. Everyone can agree that spending Saturday mornings on, say, a Habitat for Humanity construction site is laudable. We are busting their chops for their hateful, backwards political and religious beliefs. Apparently those “loving qualities” you claim they teach don’t extend to gays, at least in Dungy’s case. I’m not sure of Warner’s exact opinion on gay rights so I’ll reserve judgment, though none of us would be surprised if homos were on the list of people he thinks are going to hell.

And I, for one, would appreciate some evidence to support your claim that “those same people never say anything bad” about athletes who misbehave criminally. Thanks. One place to start might be the recent forum threads on Pacman Jones and the Bengals, but it’s going to be pretty hard to prove a negative.

I can scream intolerance at bigots all I want. They’re the ones who are wrong, not me. More and more Christians are becoming more accepting of gays and lesbians and realizing that God’s love extends to all of us.

Amen, boomer dude! Truly loving Christians who will never cast the first stone are a seriously overwhelmed minority in almost all self-avowed “Christianist” churches. My diatribes against the “actions” of Michael Vick’s inhumanity to helpless animals, or against the “actions” Rick Warren’s telling the teen homos in his audiences (and you know there have to be many of them) that their God-given inner drives for love & life-long companionship are perverse, do they have to be repeated as some sort of “credentials” before I can point out a palpable threat to my basic existence?

He just sounds like such a simpleton. And I was expecting his drawing to look more like this:

I don’t have a problem with his faith and I definitely applaud all of his charity work but to see an NFL QB drawing God and accidentally drawing Jesus is hysterical.

Jesus was a man with wonderful ideas on how human beings should treat each other and he had an amazing PR firm. Don’t you watch the History Channel?

kind of sweet, actually. Why didn’t he draw an 8 pound 6 ounce new born infant Jesus?

It’s good to see a few posters defend Warner’s right to his opinion and beliefs. I see him as someone who sincerly holds a faith in something greater than himself. I’m not a religious person, but I think that is noble and refreshing.

I think we should all take a breath, and be more accepting of our differences. Isn’t that what tolerance is all about?

How telling that Warner’s vision of God (or Jesus, or whoever) has arms too short to masturbate.

Kurt was on his way to hell before He came to believe the salvation message. We’re all sinners but sinners can’t get to heaven and live with a Holy sinless God. So a person can either accept what Jesus did on the cross for them ( suffered the Fathers just wrath for the sins ) OR continue on in their sins and make the payment themselves in hell. Pretty easy decision I think. I agree with Kurt because he agrees with God.
