Worst foods in America 2009

Men’s Health is out with its list of worst foods in America, and just reading the list made me sick. The winner for worst goes to. …

Baskin Robbins Large Chocolate Oreo Shake
2,600 calories
135 g fat (59 g saturated fat, 2.5 g trans fats)
263 g sugars
1,700 mg sodium

… It’s soiled with more than a day’s worth of calories and three days worth of saturated fat, and, worst of all, usually takes less than 10 minutes to sip through a straw.

Also pretty gag-inducing was the worst burger:

Chili’s Smokehouse Bacon Triple-The-Cheese Big Mouth Burger with Jalapeno Ranch Dressing
2,040 calories
150 g fat (53 g saturated)
110 g protein
4,900 mg sodium

… You’ll be face to face with two-and-a-half day’s worth of fat-a full third of which is saturated. To do that much damage with roasted sirloin, you’d have to eat about eight 6-ounce steaks. It’s nearly three days’ worth of saturated fat.

I am curious as to what is the worst food you eat on a regular basis. I eat healthy almost all the time, but still can’t resist a great pizza (cheese and sauce, no other toppings) once in a while.

Hat tip to Consumerist.

No one said you had to eat em. But I have never heard or read that food is “soiled” with calories before.

LOL A sticks of butter has approx 88 grams of fat 1/3 of them sat. fat and pure death for your coronary arteries. These 2 examples above have almost the equavilent of 1.5 - 2 sticks of butter. Now I grew up on a dairy farm and like butter a lot but rarely eat it (popcorn/pancakes) and holy crap 2 sticks at once would give a guy a gall bladder attack.
Yes, GOOD pizza from a mom and pop pizzaria. One big cheese and garlic slice (and a salad) 2x per month. It’s not just the fat in a guys diet but also the white flower carbs and simple sugars particularly high fructose corn syrup that are bad news too. Check out Nurition Action Health Letter/Center for Science in the Public Interest. They rock.
Oh, I am a good cook/really good at the grill and do enjoy BBQing especially marinated pork roasts or a big ol’ London broil.
