Montreal wears throwba…OH GOD MY EYES!

In proof that we in 2009 have progressed immeasurably in the last hundred or so years, the Montreal Canadiens wore some truly awful throwbacks Sunday night in their 3-1 loss to the Boston Bruins.   They wore uniforms inspired by their 1912-13 counterparts in what can only be some sort of test of Quebec-area HD televisions’ abilities.  The jerseys were completely red, white, and blue horizontally striped with a suspiciously Toronto-esque maple leaf on the front bearing the insignia CAC (Club Ahletique Canadien).  Get ready… it’s after the jump:

Oui, oui monsieur!

Gah.

SO... MANY... STRIPES.

So… many… stripes.

Someone in Canada, please, make sure they never wear these things again.  Please.

The jerseys are actually kind of cool when only one person is wearing it, and they don’t wear the matching stockings. A whole team, however, is painful.

I don’t know if I like those or not; they grow on you; if I was a fan, I think I might buy one

    I got it.

I have been trying to describe these all week and the response to anyone seeing your post is “Oh my god, there awful!”

But I think that these uniforms might be strategic. Akin to the stripes on Zebras, when the players are together, the stripes make your eyes unable to discern one player from 2,3 or where one player ends and another begins.
