Can HORSE save the NBA All-Star game?

The NBA seems committed to completely destroying what is already a meaningless event in its All-Star Game. Like the other three big leagues, the NBA tries to make it into a big party and surround it with a bunch of nonsense. The latest is a game of H-O-R-S-E that will be played between Kevin Durant, O.J. Mayo and Joe Johnson. No word on how these three were chosen, but I’m wondering what three players may have actually driven people to watch this stunt. I can think of at least two guys I’d rather see play a real game of horse:

I wouldn’t have too big a problem with them simply playing a game of H-O-R-S-E as part of all-star weekend. But now comes news that it’s being sponsored by Geico and will not be called
H-O-R-S-E. They’re going to call the game G-E-I-C-O!

Not sure what it does for anyone else. But it makes me cringe a little bit more every time I hear the word Geico. Hope they realize they’re turing off a lot of potential customers with promotional/advertising projects like this fiasco.

Horse might have worked. Geico will fail.

I guess the tough economic times are forcing the commissioner make drastic financial decisions. Soon, I expect we’ll be watching the Lakers and the Knicks playing a Butterball(tm) game at MSG.

If it’s a game of G-e-i-c-o then the three players should be dressed up as the caveman, the gecko and the little stack of cash with eyes.
