Wrestler in porn scandal unbeaten at new school

One of the two wrestlers kicked off the University of Nebraska wrestling team after appearing naked on a gay porn site last year has rebounded nicely at his new school.

Paul Donahoe transferred to Edinboro College in northwestern Pennsylvania, a wrestling powerhouse, and he is currently unbeaten (27-0 following his Feb. 14 victory) and the top-ranked 125-pounder in the country. Donahoe won the national title at 125 pounds in 2007 at Nebraska, is 113-18 in his collegiate career and he has helped Edinboro to a current Top 12 national team ranking.

Donahoe and fellow Nebraska wrestler Kenny Jordan made the news last August after it was revealed that they appeared on the porn website Fratmen.tv. The athletes were shown solo “undressing, showering and masturbating.” Fratmen bills its models as “college jocks and naked straight men.” The wrestlers appeared under the names Nash (Donahoe) and Cal (Jordan); they were paid an undisclosed amount for their work. A week after the news surfaced on a University of Nebraska gossip site, they were kicked off the Nebraska team.

When Donahoe enrolled at Edinboro (nicknamed the “Fighting Scots”) last August, he said he had two goals:

“I want to become the first two-time NCAA champ from two different schools. And I want to help the team get a trophy.”

While not answering questions at the time about the Fratmen incident, Donahoe was grateful to Edinboro, saying, “I’m just really thankful they have given me this opportunity to come here and finish my career.” The school’s athletic director, Bruce Baumgartner, a former Olympic wrestler, defended his decision to enroll Donahoe, saying, “I’m sure we’ll get some (criticism). People make mistakes all the time, and I think he deserves a second chance.”

While Donahoe has been able to resume his career, I have been unable to find anything about what has happened to Jordan (one commenter below says he transferred to Purdue but is not wrestling). In the aftermath of the Fratmen incident, both wrestlers said they wanted to be reinstated to wrestle again.

I am glad that Donahoe landed on his feet. In my ranking of crimes against humanity, posing nude (especially when you look like Donahoe) falls well below the NFL’s overtime rule, any kind of meat on a pizza, people who don’t use their turn signal and dog owners who don’t clean up after their pooch takes a dump on my flag football field.

Having been in the same situation as Paul as a former NCAA Div 1 athlete and having been in a gay porn video in Fort Lauderdale over spring break, but not being caught until after the fact, I say WAY TO GO!
All the bull shit going on in our government and in society and they worry about a jo video. Yeh right.. Those that react to such are simple LOOSERS !!! Here’s hoping Paul finishes off a great season wrestling at Edinboro and shows us more on video and print. What a stud..

Now if those uptight Endorsement Emporers who decreed that Phelps should have to do a public (and likely phony) mea culpa for smoking pot could just get over themselves, all would be right with the world.

And as long as pizza is thin crust, who cares what’s on it?

Thick dough pizza crust – now there’s something that should be banned; and another sin-beards on all good looking homos!

understand Nebraska was in a strage situation with the team due to a NCAA violation back in 2000 when another athlete was given money by the then head coach. Thinkings with the program have to be on the up and up because of the way wrestling is treated on the national level its what the team felt was best to try and make things go away.
Wrestling this year alone has lost over 3 college teams and i hear more are on the cutting block. If any of youlike wrestling i say you start going to events and sending letters. Hell coaching and promoting the sport is hard enough without worrying if your college has a gay person on it. plus i am finding most folks are cool with gays i mean hell most wrestlers act strange anyway!

I think the reaction of the first University is patently ridiculous, and it would be completley laughable if we didn’t live in such a repressed society. Its not like the kid got caught dealing drugs or went on a GTA type rampage. He took a few naked pics. Do schools expell the co-eds that pose for the Playboy Campus issues? This was just a kneejerk homophobic reaction that cost Nebraska a very good player. Thankfully their loss is another’s gain. Though I don’t think what he did was a “mistake”, there’s no criminal wrongdoing, nor unethical behavior here that I can see.

The Wrong doing isnt the Act its self you see th NCAA must be notified of all funds that are not give by the school or parents of that athlete. Your “image” is soul property of the NCAA and the university that you attend and you face can not appear on any site, Program, Magazine, or any other source and you be paid for it directly. Athletes are not allowed to work as models unless they have writen permission.
Like i have said before i think people fail to realize that the sport that i love loses programs everyday and why you might ask is because of kids making the program look bad. This had nothing to do with Gay or Str8. The athletes wanted to make a quick buck figured if they went by another name and just cashed the checks they wouldnt have any problems.
The whole Co-ed thing isnt the same cause those girls are not part of the NCAA sports! I really think if you want to know more about how the NCAA works you should call your local colleges and ask some questions or feel free to ask me i have some info about the sports and the rules that go with them!

I applaud the dude for getting on with his life, going to a new school and being successful.. but I do not for one second fault his old school for kicking him off the team if they felt it was not a good image for the school. The dude felt he needed to do a little porn to make some money.. his choice, his consequences.
I think it is sort of funny that we think that porn is now some honorable career that we should applaud and feel sorry for a person when he/she chooses to do that if the school they go to, or whatever isnt accepting of it.
Again The dude made his choice, he rebounded from it and thats excellent. But in a F’d up world where teams overpay, or look the other way…we had a college here willing to do what they felt was right…even if it meant losing one of its top wrestlers. The kid should be commended for bouncing back, but his former school should be also for doing what they felt was right.

Everyone likes looking at a little porn here and there, but lets be real.. we dont go thinking hey thats a great career move, or hey I wish i was like that person. Personally I think having just a little dignity still matters..

.. Oh yeah not to mention what he did was against established NCAA rules that every athlete is aware of. he tried to circumvent the system by changing his name to make money on his image.. another big NO NO

I am gay, and like some of the above comments, i am glad that the gentlemen has gone on with his life and is having a second chance, but i also agree, the guy knew what he was doing is against NCAA rules, you break the rules you pay the price, and i also agree, how is it that porn has become a “noble” occupation…huh? I do watch porn, but i dont think that it is a honorable profession, it just “is” what it is. but all that said, good for him, he knows he made a mistake and time to move on…now, where can i see the movie..

So jacking off to a guy jacking is more noble and honorable? If we didn’t pay our money people wouldn’t do porn. You might as well say that we all pay hustlers for sex but to prostitute oneself is ridiculous and not respectable. Gotta love USA hypocrisy!

When he comes out or is actually a gay man, then he’ll be interesting. Other than that, he’s just as straight jock. Why he is of interest to someone gay is beyond me. I guess it’s like our magazines pandering to straight guys to be on our covers and then the straight guys pretending to be so enlightened and accepting. What a joke.

The Answer i was able to Get from a Friend who had a hand in the process.
The NCAA did not allow for him to wrestle when he first got to EU for the first part of the season if you look back at his matches. Also Nebraska Self reported although they make the claim that they had no knowledge of the events and also the athletes where no longer in roled at the school.
See the NCAA can investgate, but if you are granted a one time transfer and then they find out you got free stuff they do not hold it aginst the athlete unless it is a crime such as Putting bets on an Championship sport or event. Actually funny thing is they say that College students that are 21 cant bet on a horse race!
Anyway the Rule says its aginst the rules but sanctions on athletes are hard to fallow through and would be held up in court long enough for both of them to wrestle. Again as i said these things are strange if you ever take the NCAA test it has crap on it that makes no since like a coach cant text message you untill you are enrolled on the campus but can send you a non- responsive text before you come!

2400 years ago everyone wrestled naked so olympic spectators could have watched him in the raw. There should be more public nude wrestling. P.S. The guy is gorgeous.

PPS. According to ancient texts some of the spectators watching the events negotiated with the athletes how high they could put their cocks between the athletes’ legs.

    on Feb 18th, 2009 at 6:50 PM

LOLOL im laughing my ass off at Antonios comments.. please let me see those ancient texts where it mentions that.. OMG so funny I think it says somewhere in those same ancient texts that if if they actually slip their dicks in their asses it counts as a pin

As far as the comments, it just is sorta sad to me that so many younger folks are so desperate for some attention, or to get on TV or a website or whatever that they feel like jerking off for the camera is like a good option. There is a story that the kid who was hooking up with the gay mayor of Portland is now going to do a nude pictorial/ Amy Fischer, of the Joey Buttafuoco scandal is embarking on a stripper tour.

I really dont get it. Anyone who knows me knows im the farthest thing from a prude and am pretty open minded.. but I just think if my son.. or daughter did something like I would be so disappointed in them for so many reasons.

    A. Pat, I don’t know where your friend is getting his information but it is totally incorrect.

There are specific rules about athletes and work and the rule concerning modeling only apply when the athlete is trading on their status as an athlete to obtain modeling work. In this case, the NCAA ruled that Donahue and Jordan specifically hid that status and thus had violated no rules. Donahue was not sanctioned in any way when he transferred to EU. Donahue did sit out the fall season because of standard NCAA transfer requirements – meaning you can leave one school and immediately start competing for another within the same division. This was covered in the Erie Times newspaper article linked in the story above.

NCAA Rules for wrestling arent as cut and dry because of the Fact that EU is a D2 university except for in wrestling. I know what some people are told and how face value is important, but alot of teams do the same thing as NU with asking players to leave or forcing them out after somthing comes up that could hurt the program. Once a player does leave a school the
NCAA is less likeley to focus on them and allow them to move on if the Paper you read knew everything they would go back to 1998-2000 when the former coach was said to have given money to his wrestlers and players. This act has haunted the team for years and as hurt the coaches and athletes of that school as well.
This information plus my knowledge of helping transfers get into school

as a former wrestler, for a guy as good as donahoe, wrestling is a way of life. i understand that paul has always been an academic all american too, which isn’t surprising as successful wrestling requires as much brains as brawn.

i only hope his fratmen stint doesn’t get in the way of his working in the sport after he graduates. teaching and coaching can be a damn satisfying life.

my high school wrestling coach was also my AP English lit teacher: one of the smartest guys I know.

JerryD is correct. A.Pat, he didn’t get anything “free”. His modeling is considered work. As for NU, it has everything to do with image. I has nothing to do with past violations. Schools in the Big 12 have suspended co-eds for nude magazine shoots.

The NCAA DIV I manual, dated 2008-09 :

    12.4 EMPLOYMENT

12.4.1 Criteria Governing Compensation to Student-Athletes. Compensation may be paid to a student-athlete:
    (a) Only for work actually performed; and
    (b) At a rate commensurate with the going rate in that locality for similar services.

12.4.1.1 Athletics Reputation. Such compensation may not include any remuneration for value or utility
that the student-athlete may have for the employer because of the publicity, reputation, fame or personal following
that he or she has obtained because of athletics ability.

So basically, they were within regulations and should have been paid a Nebraska porn stars’ wage, no more or less as long as they promoted the film under a pseudonym without referencing their collegiate career, which it sounds like they did.

@mikemaz — it’s easy money and if you have fun doing it, then hey, why not? That’s the lure. Fast and easy. These sites like Fratmen pay 3 and 4 g’s for a hot guy to jerk off. The site owners are making hundreds of thousands a year off these sites. They pay these guys money like this in hopes to get them back for some gay sex videos later on…..they lure them in then with double the money they got for their first solo shoots.

Hey, I’d do it, but not if I was a star athlete or was hoping for a career future in what I excelled in most.

These two may be pretty and have big dicks, but apparently they ran short in the brain department if they actually believed that this would never get out or be seen by anyone in their school or on their athletic team. DUH.
