Cale Yarbrough is a University of Georgia student and mixed martial artist who appeared on Spike TV’s “Ultimate Fighter.” You would think this would make him popular with the ladies, but it’s the guys that hit on him, his roommate told a school newspaper.
“A lot of guys. A lot of drunk guys,” Yarbrough said. “A bunch of guys want to buy me beers and stuff, it’s pretty weird.”
“He gets hit on by tons of dudes,” said Todd Duffee, his roommate.
Spencer Hall of the Sporting News says fighters should take it as a compliment.
You might take this as a bad thing, but the athletic torture of MMA training evidently makes you so irresistibly lean and sexy not even members of the same sex can resist making a pass or two at you by buying you free beer.
I am not the only one who has noticed how homoerotic MMA is, with these very fit young jocks sweatily going after each other in the equivalent of boxer briefs (check out the always hot Georges St. Pierre). Even the terms connote sex: “rear naked choke hold,” “top, bottom and mounted” positions. As one gay MMA fan in Canada wrote:
Let’s recap: the fighter in the top position mounts the fighter in the bottom position. He pounds him. The bottom rolls over, exposing his back. The top applies a rear naked maneuver. The bottom submits. Ding ding ding! They don’t make pornos this gay.
An online MMA site, which features bikini-clad women prominently on its front (translation: we ain’t gay), even posts what it calls “Homoerotic MMA photo of the week.” Wish I had thought of it.

I don’t see it, nice body, great athlete, but the face of a bulldog. I’d enjoy those beers if I were him though, he’s making a lot of friends and students proud of being from Georgia.

I”ve been noticing this for at least a coupla years. The mere fact that these dudes get shirtless & barefoot, then hug the fuck out of each other, is enough to warrant several cold showers on my part. Face of a bulldog? Trivial. Cover it w/an American flag & go for the glory.

I have two words for why I am limited in my lust for ultimate fighters: cauliflower ears.
Not pretty.
But it is nice to watch now and then, so long as those ears are not distinguishable, or they wear ear-guards.

I practise Brasilian Jiu Jitsu, its far from gay. Looking at it might seem that way and it is a bit uncomfortable when you first begin (with having another dudes ass and groin all over you). However, there is a cup and all you feel is a hard cup pressed up on your leg or what ever. I’ve gotten some sexy feelings from slapping the guys ass after a bought. The audience might see sex in it but if you are participating you had better keep sex out of it or get your ass kicked…..all this homoerotic imaginings are fun but really is a distraction to the sport. I’m gay, I fight and don’t want to think of my partner’s loins when pinning him.

Surfing around the tube one night, I came across an MMA bout. One dude was on his back, legs in the air. The other dude was between this guy’s legs, pummeling away. The thought that ran through my head was, “like gay porn without the penetration”.

Ray, I can imagine that the last thing you’re thinking about when someone is trying to kick your ass is sex. I’m not much of a fighter but in all my competitive pursuits it’s been that way. There’s a time for getting horny but a game or match isn’t one of them.

This is definitely the kind of stuff that gives pause when you’re surfin late at night. I totally agree about the cauliflower ear deal……on an otherwise hot muscular guy, one slight turn and there they are! But I’ll watch for 10 or 15 minutes at a time since I’m not only gay but love a guys barefeet and have a thing for redheads and buzzcuts….all of which seem to be plentiful in this sport!

I have a “great” respect for the MMA fighter, they are without a
doubt-fiercely incredible athletes. Even those who are considered low-ranking fighters should be commended for their bravery, and technical abilities. The undeniable sexual undertones are a given, and any seasoned athlete (especially if they’re hot), knows that attention from both sexes with be expected. A homophobic athlete is an insecure person-with obvious doubts or self hatred. If you know who you are, then live and let live, and go your own way. I seriously doubt the implication that any man-gay or straight would
have the balls to challenge the masculine verosity of an MMA
fighter whether it’s sexual or not.
