Pride Pro Wrestling, the first professional wrestling league dedicated to serving the LGBT community, have announced they’re holding their inaugural show on March 28, 2009 in York, PA. They’ve collected a lot of out LGBT talent from around the pro wrestling community and are going to battle it out to find out who’s the “best LGBT grappler in the world.” Some of the names appearing are: Eddie Valentine, Jordan Winters, and the dreaded Penetrator! My guess is his finisher is called “Just the Tip”. Or at least, it should be.
Now, there’s something to be said about homoeroticism in pro wrestling in general. I’m a huge wrestling fan, and I’ll be the first to admit that guys writhing around in speedos is, as the kids say, pretty gay. So it’s pretty cool to have a bunch of guys and gals out there in a spirit of openness and camaraderie. So, if you’re in the Philly (EDIT - Or Central PA) area, there are much worse ways to spend a late March evening than to see a bunch of mean guys and girls beat each other up for your amusement.
And besides, any wrestling organization that uses Giorgio Moroder’s “Chase” as a wrestler’s entrance music is instantly awesome.

Hey! I resent that dig at the Flyers! They are defending Stanley Cup semi-finalists, with more shorthanded goals than any other NHL team this season and balanced scoring.
I’d sooner dig on York. It’s a pretty depressed Central Pennsylvania city, and my ex felt that all Central Pennsylvania cities are alike. It irked me, but he was kinda right.
I’ve been told to beware of Club XS due to drugs. Little did I think the drugs might just be steroids. (I hope my info is wrong. I have only been to York a few times in the last five years, and just to work. Their Target branches and supermarkets are lovely.)
York is 82 miles from my home in Philadelphia’s western suburbs. Although the wrestling could be interesting, it’s not likely I’ll go.

Yes, York is much too far away to be considered the “Philadelphia area.” But I wouldn’t go see a pro wrestling event anyway, not even if they held it in my living room.

Yeah, too many rugburns. Trust me.

Well fuck. I live in Dover (2 miles from York) and I’m gonna have to check this out. What’s the name of this promotion? I already see it having heat with NCW, NEW, and SWO. I hate life.

EDIT: Nevermind, I’m an idiot. The first 3 words answer me. Is there info on this show?

“Chase” by Giorgio Moroder was used by the tag team The Midnight Express (Bobby Eaton with Dennis Condrey first and then Stan Lane) in the 1980’s with Jim Cornette as a manager. They always came to the ring to the Moroder version until copyright laws got them and the NWA/Jim Crockett Promotions had to do a cover around 1987 (WWE 24/7 doesn’t even use the cover music on the replays of the old shows; they use some terrible canned music). Eaton and Cornette always teased a sexual relationship with Cornette going as far as to kiss Bobby on the cheek before a match. Both men and Condrey, who I am proud to call friends, are heterosexual and VERY gay friendly. So Kelvin, you are 25 years behind the use of “Chase”, my friend, and hearing the music still gives me goosebumps and great memories.
