Bayless stands by gay Aikman rumor

Wacko. Clown. Fool. These are some of the words that come to the minds of many when they think of Skip Bayless. The over-the-top sports reporter often featured on ESPN (shocker) made a real name for himself with a book many years ago about the Cowboys of the 1990s. In it he talks about rumors that Troy Aikman is gay; Rumors that he’s been attacked for recently. This week he reiterated those rumors, stuck to them, and went even further:

My only regret about the book is that it does not say that Aikman is gay. I had no idea and nor do I care to this day.

A number of the Black players-with whom I was close-contended that he was bisexual.

He goes on . . .

I wish I had sledgehammered it [the rumor] because it was the truth and everyone who knew what was going on inside the locker room told me the book was a terrific job and that I nailed it.

Because I did. It’s exactly what happened. All I heard from people around the country who didn’t read the book was, “You outed Troy Aikman?”

I didn’t. The coach definitely thought he was gay and a lot of his teammates thought he was gay. More than that, they thought he was racist and they thought he was trying to get Barry Switzer.

I have no idea if Aikman is straight, gay or bisexual. Given that all he does now is badly call games for Fox, I really don’t care too much. But man, these rumors just won’t leave the guy. I just keep thinking what a current Cowboy said: “If it looks like a rat and smells like a rat . . .” or something like that.

Hat tip to Rod 2.0.

You haven’t stood in front of Troy Aikman while he was pulling his underwear on and also while accompanied by a late-middle-aged handler/enforcer.

    I have.

I know what the expression on his face said. I think you should be somewhat less effusive in your protestations that you don’t know if he’s gay or particularly care. There are different ways of knowing, and from the sounds of it, you’re working with zero information.

“A number of the Black players - with whom I was close - contended that he was bisexual.”

This statement needs to be parsed and analyzed because good Christ is it loaded.

First, why does it matter what race the players were? It’s like the line from that one 30 Rock: “He ran from a bunch of black guys who pulled a gun on him.” “Why do you have to mention that the muggers were black?” “They weren’t muggers. They were cops.”

Second, Bayless so desperately needs validation in his life he has to hammer home the point that these black guys are REALLY his friends and he doesn’t have any doubts that what they’re saying to him is the absolute truth.

Third, the bi remark, it’s just confusing. Bayless seems to think that some unnamed source(s) who happened to be contracted to the same organization are the end all, be all of a person’s character. It would be like me saying that Cyd Zeigler is really a massive poon-hound and this whole gay thing is just an act. (Cyd especially loves the boobies!)

It said, “Why is this strange man staring at me?” If this even happened at all, that is.

It is true! I have a close friend in Dallas who used to see him out at the bars before he got “married”.

Bayless “stands by gay Aikman rumor?” More like stood next to it, somewhere out of sight. What’s wrong? Is he still afraid of being sued?

Most men are bisexual in orientation. I would say that 50% of the “gay” men I’ve met are bisexual in orientation and that 90% of the “straight” men I’ve met are bisexual in orientation. Most of these men are afraid to say they are bisexual because society has deliberately polarized male sexuality into gay or straight.

Hey - we’re all bi/gay when the right woman isn’t around. BFD if he is gay or not. It’s his life. Is it going to affect the economic status of the country; help homeless people; bring healthcare to those who need it? Let’s focus on making life better for everyone.

I don’t believe this at all. I live in Dallas and believe me the very LAST place Troy Aikman would go to a gay bar is in Dallas, TX.

I am more disturbed by this so-called reporter throwing out the idea that Troy is racist based upon anonymous bullsh*t. I agree that we should leave the man alone. I have my framed autographed photo and that’s all that matters. He was a great champion unlike the riff raff who whine and moan and take vacations with skanks and say “c’est la vie” after an embarrassing divisional loss and call themselves the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys nowadays. I’d be more inclined to believe racial rumors about Romo than about Aikman because Romo doesn’t seem to want to spread his throws around to the detriment of his team. What is up with that? And if I ever give Aikman a blowjob I’m never telling anybody.

I find it all suspicious… “Black players… contended that he was bisexual”. I have a problem with this. To most straight guys–and in particular homophobic football players (most are, deal.) they would not call him bi. I don’t know any straight guy that refers to another guy as bi. The second they find out he sucks d*ck, he’s gay. Married or not, they’re going to say he’s gay.

If Troy were out there suing people for $100million for calling him gay–I’d say he’s fair game. If he’s out there denouncing gays and gay culture–out him (if it’s true). But if he’s just a retired football player–public figure or not–leave him be.

Oh, and for those who think he was hanging around in gay bars… there were a lot of BS rumors about Steve Young doing that, too. No one that famous is going to be seen “out.” Descretion is key and they know how to do it.

I have always had a crush on him! He is sooooo very hott! I would like to think he is, & from what all I have read over the years he may be. It doesn’t matter one way or the other, but I’d sure like to have me a piece of him!! :O)

Well, the truth of the matter is that if Troy is gay, WOOF! But Skip Bayless is sooooo annoying. Watching ESPNFirst Take can be exhausting with him because he is a miserable little troll who has no emotions. Shows no emotion… Come on and giggle or laugh or something!

I’d trust Dave Kopay’s comment about this in the interview I did with him for Outsports several years ago. He knew Aikman well, and told me that he didn’t think Aikman was gay.

Dave pointed out the element of wishful thinking in gay men’s rumors about players. He remarked, “The rumors are always about the good-looking players…never the ugly ones.”

He is gay. The marriage was arranged. That’s the truth - but seriously, does it really matter?
