So, how good was Syracuse’s 127-117 Big East men’s quarterfinal basketball win over Connecticut that lasted six overtimes and 3 hours, 46 minutes and ended at 1:22 a.m? I am asking since I missed every second of it, but in reading about it, it sounded like a classic.
Believe it or not, it was only the second-longest game ever — Cincinnati beat Bradley in 1981 in seven OTs.

Definitely a classic!! I watched the entire game. Not only did it have all the drama and emotion you could want, the quality of play was extremely high throughout. Great shooting, passing, defense, etc.
Syracuse did not have a single lead in any of the first five overtime periods. Then they took control in the sixth OT period and put the game away.
The only drawback to the game was so many players fouled out that by the end of the game both team had players on the floor who hadn’t even played during regulation time. Too bad there isn’t a rule that gives players an additional foul or two when a game goes to OT.

I watched until the end of the third overtime, almost happy that I didn’t stay up. I used to think Devendorf was cute but his attitude on court and the harassment charge blew that up big time.
Interesting thought, Mike.

The amazing thing about the game was that Devendorf was thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis close to ending it in regulation with a three pointer that left his hands, just…and I mean JUST a hair too late. The ball was coming off that last fingernail on his shooting hand as the clock hit 0.0 .
After that, I was watching in amazement…..3ot…..4ot!!!…..5ot!!!!!…..6 are you kidding me!!!!!
Even when Syracuse began to blow the game open early in that last overtime, you couldn’t go to bed. There was just no reason to believe that that would be the last overtime. Even if the lead had reached double digits.
The “Holy Crap, I can’t believe what I’m seeing” factor was through the roof as the game wore on into the evening.

Blue Rader. I went to Syracuse/SUNY Forestry and got 8 phone calls from east coast friends and (4) from family about the game. They were going nuts. I couldn’t get it on west coast TV (DISH)and had to watch the score on the computer.
Then they went on and won today:) Go Orange Men! It’s the “salt city” I have no idea where Orange men comes from???
