Are they the newest tabloid-cover couple? Michael Phelps is apparently “dating” Miss California Carrie Prejean. Prejean is now best known for her answer to a question posed by Perez Hilton in the Miss USA competition about same-sex marriage. Said Prejean:
We live in a land that you can choose same sex marriage or opposite marriage and, you know what, in my country and in, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there. But that’s how I was raised and that’s how I think that it should be between a man and a woman.
Phelps of course is best known for winning more Olympic gold than anyone else in history. And he doesn’t mind taking a bong hit from time to time, either.

Well in that tiny two piece bikini she certainly didn’t look like she was about to go into the convent. One just might think with her very traditional beliefs she might have presented herself in a more dignified look. Obviously she was looking for a lot more and maybe in a way she has got just that. I can remember a time when I spooned over a Playboy centerfold, Christa Speck (great tits) I believe her name was but that was way before I ever knew Brain Brotini from International male presented himself. This one gets a big meh from me.
The answer Miss California gave was an atrocity against the English language as well as being poorly calculated and, well, stupid. Micheal Phelps isn’t exactly known to be the most articulate or intelligent person either -at least he certainly doesn’t come off as such in interviews or statements. Maybe this’ll be a good match, who knows.
As far as Phelps side of thing goes, from his perspective I don’t think miss California’s stance on gay marriage is a big deal in and of itself. The whole issue is probably fairly distant from him, and regardless of his personal beliefs, a girlfriends views on gay marriage generally won’t be a deal breaker for most guys.
What this does show is another case of Phelps poor judgment, especially coming at a time when he really could do without negative press.

Get this through your thick, empty skull: Marriage is and has always been a social contract, akin to setting up a corporation. Religion has NOTHING to do with two consenting adults creating a legal unit vis-à-vis property rights, welfare and care of spouses and children, inheritance rights, etc. In fact, given how damaging and corrosive religion is to the world, I’d say the government should be obliged to make religious involvement in the marriage contract illegal. THAT would protect marriage!

I wonder seriously why someone who identifies as a straight person and Christian would make a comment on a gay sports fans site. Even moreso I wonder why this same person would take an article dealing with two famous straight people dating and turn it into a debate on the state of people’s souls simply because they are gay.
