This is one of the most bizarre stories I’ve seen recently: The NFL forced Washington Redskins tight end Chris Cooley to undergo a psychiatric evaluation after he accidentally posted a picture of his penis on his blog last season. In an interview with Jimmy Traina of SI.com, Cooley revealed this:SI.com:
SI.com: Do people still give you a hard time about [exposing your penis]t?
Cooley: Only in interviews. Only people like you. But the NFL made me undergo a psychiatric evaluation. They treated it really seriously. Please. It was an accident. If I wanted to post a picture of my penis I wouldn’t have been all hunched over.
SI.com: What was the result of the psychiatric evaluation?
Cooley: I don’t even know, dude. I had to do a call with some lady. I thought it was gonna take two minutes, but it was like an hour. It was horrible.
Seriously? An obvious accidental post by a goofball tight end requires a psych evaluation by the NFL? Deadspin had the proper snarky reaction:
Remarkably, somewhere the NFL has a transcript of the hour-long conversation between a female psychiatrist and Cooley discussing why he posted his penis on-line. What were they looking to find out? If he’s prone to exposing himself?
Cooley has a very irreverent blog and has now posted clips of an online reality show with his clueless brothers and wife. After watching this, it wouldn’t take a pricey shrink to realize that Cooley exposing his penis is probably par for the course in his household. The Cooley reality show:

Did Leonard Little undergo a psych eval when he killed a woman while drunk driving? This seems a little ridiculous.

I am thinking his front is not too bad either, as he put it, he was hunched over. Dude is himself, so of course NFL treat him like a an escaped psych patient.

Mountain out of a simply flaccid Cooley mole hill (sincerely, Cooley dude, no offense intended!) Why is the human body considered somehow “pathological?” This adherence to adolescent Puritanical revulsion at the simple human fact of natural nudity is much more worth some sort of “professional” review than a young, handsome guy being so relaxed in his perfectly natural state of nudity that he completely forgot to be “ashamed” of what nature (”God?”) gave him to enjoy! Cut me a fu**ing break! If we were all to be rendered “equal” by being reduced to our birthday suits, the change of status after 1,000’s of years of clothing induced shame, might just be the seminal difference between doing what we’ve done for centuries, and a paradigm shift that might just reduce our aggression to more manageable & humane levels. Why is it that we Americans, far more than any other 1st world country, find so much to abhor about our natural state in our leisure life? Childishness, giggling infantile pointless & immature shameful childishness, about one of the most beautiful attributes of being human: naked defenselessness in appreciation of our natural selves. Nothing more; nothing less. Let’s all just grow up & rejoice in the beauty of the life we live, okay? Okay!

OK, so two leaders of the free world for 8 years lied continually to its citizens; create an unjust illegal war leading to the tragic deaths of 3K soldiers; ignore the constitution and the rights of said citizens; bankrupt their country and leave their respective office with a smile on their face.
And these two men didn’t need psychiatric evaluations?

A female psychiatrist, eh?
Shows the homophobic bent of the NFL is not just restricted to the lockerrooms….
