Brett Favre, please go away

Here we go again — Brett Favre, the biggest drama queen in sports, is now going to talk to the Minnesota Vikings about their quarterbacking job this season. This comes a few months after he “retired” again, this time from the New York Jets. And it comes a year after he “retired” in a tearful press conference after a great career with the Green Bay Packers.

I used to be a big Favre fan, and now I think he is one of the most selfish and deluded athletes out there. I keep hearing about how Favre hates the Packers and wants revenge on a team that paid him millions. This is all spin in Favre’s mind to rationalize acting like a baby. Favre seems to forget that his retirement was voluntary last year, so his blaming G.M. Ted Thompson is absurd. Green Bay did the right thing after Favre retired and installed Aaron Rodgers at quarterback; Favre said he was done and the team moved on.

The reality is that Favre can no longer play at a high level for an entire season. Last year, he led the Jets to an 8-3 record, before he collapsed and played horribly as the team finished 1-4 and missed the playoffs. The word was that he had an arm injury down the stretch. If so, why did he selfishly keep playing when he was clearly injured? Or it was was a convenient excuse to cover up his suckitude?

The Vikings will be making a huge mistake if they sign Favre, but then again this is a team that is clueless when it comes to quarterbacks. Otherwise, they would have other quarterbacks on their roster than Sage “The Turnover Machine” Rosenfels and Tavaris “The Mediocrity” Jackson. Maybe Favre and the Vikes deserve each other. I would love to hear what other NFL fans think about Favre coming back.

Brian Baldinger was interviewed on local radio today. He says people from the Vikings are convinced that if Favre had been their QB last year the Vikings would’ve gone to the Super Bowl — the reason he wasn’t a good fit for the Jets is because of their system and he would’ve fit in very well with the Vikes’ offense.

Injury alert! Injury alert! He got injured last year, and I have to believe he’s headed that way if he plays this season.

I would think Brett would remember what he physically looked like after the week 17 game vs Miami last year. He was a beaten, tired man. Not everyone gets to pull an Elway and leave a champion. I really hope he doesnt do it, because his ability to play at a consistently high level is lacking.

I have lost all my respect for him. He needs to stay retired and step out of the limelight. But I doubt if his ego will let him. It can’t be about the money so it must be about him wanting attention and adulation. Perhaps a therapist could help him through the adjustment phase.

As long as anyone will hire him, Favre should continue working as long as he sees fit. Why should things be different for him than for anyone else in America?

Favre is universally being raked over the coals (and rightfully so) for being selfish, atttention-desperate and self-indulgent. As long as he’s no longer being hero-worshipped by the football media, he doesn’t bother me anymore.

On the other hand, the Minnesota Vikings are driving me nuts. What in the world can they be thinking???? It’s idiotic to think for even a single second bringing in Favre will be a succes. QBs do not jell with an offense in a single season. It simply takes longer than that for the QB and WRs to mesh and create an effecient offense. And at 40 years old that’s all they’ll get out of Favre. It’s insane.

My favorite team is going to sign Brett Favre in the coming days, or weeks, or months, or however long it takes that f***ing a**hole to milk the publicity machine to his satisfaction.
