I spent a lot of time prior to the Colts playoff game with Howard, as a guest along with Dave Kopay. Dave was Howard’s best man at his wedding. A terrific guy and someone who was hugely supportive of Dave when he came out in the 1970s. My story about meeting Howard:

Yeah enough about Dungy…he’s only working hard to keep you from being treated equally and to keep you from legally marrying the person you love. But yeah, enough about Dungy.
Since he’s not willing to “let it be” when it comes to us, I don’t think we should let it be either.

I’m so sick of this harping on Dungy for every fucking move he makes. Lay off of him. Jesus Christ there are so many more people who are a lot more dangerous to our struggle than Tony damn Dungy. If he wants to help Michael Vick then its his damn business.

Wrong. Dungy is probably one of the more dangerous people to gays in that he is widely respected. He is far more dangerous, at least in my opinion, than the Fred Phelps of the world…most people know or think he and his clan are loons. Dungy is a quiet, well-spoken man, making him a far more worthy and dangerous an adversary.

I’m not worried about Tony Dungy. The nation is showing with the recent election that there is a paradigm shift taking place in this country. With each passing election cycle, more and more of that old conservative guard will by dying away and those who have grown up in this more diverse society will make the Tony Dungys of the world a non factor. Sure I disagree with him on this issue but seriously…this whole story criticizing him for reaching out to Michael Vick is ridiculous.
