I think it was Serena Williams, not Venus Willaims, that announced she is the number one player in the world despite the rankings.

UMMM…if you are going to report on a story at least get it right. It was SERENA WILLIAMS, NOT VENUS who boasted about her being the real #1 who lost in her first round match. Venus made it to the semifinal, losing in 3 tough sets to the eventual winner (and still grand slamless I might add) Dinara Safina. I know some people think we all look alike but for heaven sake I don’t know how people confuse Serena with her sister Venus. So quick hit that.

Ron, it was an honest mistake. I know the difference between the two very well - I was just writing too fast. Implying that I can’t tell the difference between two black people is pretty outrageous. So give it a rest.

Thats cool. I probably overreacted because so many sports analysts confuse the two. I don’t know how many times I’ve been over to ESPN and some analyst over there confuses Serena with Venus and I’m like what the hell. They don’t even look alike and their personalites are polar opposites. Venus is the more subdued one and Serena is the boaster who often ends up with egg on her face with comments like her latest declaration. Is she better than Safina? Yeah. But not at the moment. I know you aren’t perfect so..my bad for the initial reaction.
