A reader sent me this picture that supposedly shows Pittsburgh Penguin Jordan Staal kissing teammate Evgeni Malkin. It is mentioned on this site and this site. It’s from 2007 and while it could be them, who knows? It all looks like a big goof anyway. But want to ask our hockey mavens if you think it is these two. The photo has resurfaced thanks to the Pens being in the Stanley Cup Finals.

so what? they are great players. if if they are gay and happy… LET THEM. if they are drunk and just partying. that’s ok, too. i’d LOVE so see the time when this time is over and gay athletes can be open and out in EVERY league without repercussions. at LEAT 10% of the world population is GAY so… the odds of having gay players n ANY given league is 10%…. same as the military and any other job and place in the world. GET USED TO IT and be proud to be GAY

For the record, I am not reading anything into it. They’re 2 young guys who look like they’re goofing around. It’s a cute pic and I was wondering if it is actually 2 Pittsburgh Penguins.

It looks like Staal, but regardless, it is totally innocent. He is kissing him on the forehead…big deal…its not like it was on the lips.

Why is everyone getting so defensive?
Jim was only curious if it was Malkin and Staal in the photo. He didn’t imply they are gay/in a relationship…although, by the tone of these comments, you’d think that was some kind of accusation they needed to be defended against.
