I have had a strong dislike for former WWE wrestler and now Ultimate Fighting Championship star Brock Lesnar after he told ESPN the Magazine in 2004, “I don’t like gays. Write that down in your little notebook. I don’t like gays.”
So it was no surprise to see what a total jackoff he was during and after winning the UFC heavyweight title Saturday night over Frank Mir in the big UFC 100 PPV card:
In just his fifth MMA fight after a winding athletic path through college wrestling, fake wrestling and the Minnesota Vikings’ training camp, Lesnar first refused to touch gloves with Mir. The hulking 265-pounder spent most of the fight’s two rounds on top of Mir, using his weight and wrestling skill to wear down Mir’s defenses, before finishing with a relentless series of right hands to Mir’s face.
Lesnar (4-1), who lost to Mir last year, then taunted his fallen opponent while Mir still sat on his stool, his face bloody and swollen. When the Mandalay Bay crowd booed, Lesnar made a two-handed obscene gesture, followed by a rambunctious interview in which he insulted a prominent UFC sponsor and made an off-color comment about his own wife.
Lesnar was popping the middle finger to the crowd and then boasted that “hell, maybe even later, I’ll get on top of my wife.” He then insulted sponsor Bud Light by saying he preferred Coors Light because “Bud Light won’t pay me.”
Lesnar got a tongue-lashing from UFC President Dana White, furious that Lesnar’s antics would hurt a sport trying to push more and more into the mainstream; this looked more like a pro wrestling circus than a true sport. Lesnar claimed he got all excited trying to hype the PPV card, but White wasn’t buying it, saying he was “blown away” by the fighter’s antics and bad sportsmanship.
The fighter issued a post-fight apology, more motivated I would guess by White’s blasting him (with whatever threats were involved) than any true contrition. Once a jackass, always a jackass.

I’d like to top his wife YADADIMEAN?

That would be 2 time All American and NCAA heavyweight champion, turned WWE star, turned UFC’s last hope at a real heavyweight division. Why hate him for wanting to make money? He might be a tad more crass in his actions, but it’s been no different than Mike Tyson’s rants of ancient past, Josh Howard telling kids its ok to smoke up, or any other athlete we so love. Hell, lump in Frank Shamrock’s roided up past, and Tito Ortiz just being Tito Ortiz.
Where is the outrage over Henderson wailing Bisping in the face with a forearm after being knocked out? Henderson even admitted it was intentional and it “felt good”. Makes it better because he drank his Bud Light like a good boy, huh?

Never liked the guy.. and this just confirms it. No class.

Brock Lesnar was crude, unprofessional, and a poor winner. He made the sport look like a joke. Number one, how can you call just laying on someone a good fight? He didn’t do anything! Number two, is he on steroids? They have been known to cause major personality issues (hint him flipping off the crowd for booing his poor fight). Number three, what wife goes up and pats her husband on the back after he just publicly told everyone he is going home and going to get on top of her! Last but not least, did you hear the apology? That was the biggest load of SHIT I have ever heard, he should have addressed how he treated his fans (well not anymore), he should have even apologized for the horrible comment he made about his wife. I don’t believe that blaming it on being upset about losing before was a good explanation. In fact it didn’t even come close. He should go back to where he came from and leave the sport to real fighters who have respect for the other fighters whether they when or lose and have respect for those sitting at home watching the fight let alone those in the stands! I hope that next year there is a guy big enough who can sit on him the whole fight and then get in his face and tell him what a piece of shit he is. Or better yet, he should just never return to the sport again.

I will admit that I was put off at the defacto and very jockular “woooo!” that Brock let off at the end–just because it anchors him to his previous career as a pro wrestler. People boo him because they want a “people’s champion” and Lesnar is clearly a “ringer”… born genetically prone to physical superiority. I rooted for Lesnar. He is a sick peudo-human that was born a circus freak. He’s fun to watch because he’s more than just big. He can systematically dismantle very talented fighters. He’s like BJ Penn, but shaped like a bus.
Advice to Mir:
1) Don’t watch your own ass beating in front of your kids. They have homework.
2) Lose the chin-beard.
3) Keep doing your thing. Genetic anomolies like Lesnar didn’t carry this sport… articulate and studied fighters like yourself did. Keep on truckin’.
Advice to Lesnar:
1) Invest. Plastic surgery is expensive.
2) Shut up. You look like a dick. No one will ever like you becuase you keep reminding them of Ric Flair.
3) God sakes… skip the shitty light beer altogether. You make enough money for the good stuff.

Jim,
I think you are unfair in your analogy. Jackasses have been productive contributors to civilization for millennia. How dare you lump them in with Brock “MoreOr” Lesnar!
The Mouth That Bored does present a dilemma for MMA. The virtual lack of restrictions lies in much of its appeal in our emasculated culture, so do you try to put in weight class rules a la freestyle wrestling, or do you accept the mismatches when a real life Ajax comes along?
And is MMA on ESPN evidence that the sport has ‘arrived’ or that ESPN has sunk?
Also, I think folk misinterpreted his gesture. He was merely responding to a question from the audience to tell them what his IQ was. I just wasn’t sure whether his response was 2 or 11.

I hope they don’t bring that fake BS to MMA. It tarnishes the sport
on Jul 13th, 2009 at 12:52 pm
The problem is, most fans of UFC are jackasses as well, so this just elevated his staus with them.

hey, i’m an mma fan and i was appalled by his speech after the fight. i like mma for the talents like GSP and Anderson Silva - you have to admit, that’s peak physical skill. Brock Lesnar is just a massive mountain of a man that could actually have earned some respect from me if he’d made a sportsmanlike comment after a pounding like that. I made careful note of who his sponsors were on his shorts.. they can guarantee they’ll never get my business.
i like rogers comment about the iq

I really don’t care what any of your opinions on him are, he knows he has the ability to be the best heavyweight fighter there ever was, I think he has proved the right to trash talk(in no way shape or form am I encouraging his trash talk) . But aside from his talk, he is probably 1 of the best wrestlers out there. His size may give him a huge advantage on the all the fights he’s been in…who cares?? I support Brock 110% Maybe I’m a jackass for saying that, I don’t care, tell Brock hes a jackass to his face in the octagon, see what your outcome is. Brock has yet a lot to learn about this sport, and when he knows that being an ass is no longer fun, he will be a fighter everyone can learn to respect. Keep Fighting Brock.

Anyone who thinks Lesnar had any right to act like he did, is a complete Jackass themselves! You do NOT say what he did towards a UFC sponsor nor flip off the fans when they booed for a good reason, he needs to remember that without fans there isn’t a sport nor sponsors either! Any fighter who needs to act like he did towards Mir after the fight isn’t a real man and needs to grow up. Maybe Lesnar will get some off the redneck Nascar “go fast turn left” fans to buy some PPV’s for the UFC seems how he is one of them. I understand being excited to win a fight and having your adrenaline going, but a true professional with even the smallest amount of brains and common sense is still capable of controlling himself afterward!
on Jul 18th, 2009 at 9:59 pm
Yeah. Well like I said, get in an octagon with lesnar and tell him he has the smallest amount of brains. See your fate.
on Jul 19th, 2009 at 10:06 pm
I also heard in Brock’s free time, he goes into the snowy woods bare-ass naked just to wrestle grizzly bears.

UFC/MMA w/e is retarded anyway have you seen the behind the scenes of these 1-celled microorganisms trying to live their lives. Yet we are going to bash this guy for being less than tasteful in how he behaves. Look at the sport itself?!?! Props for being yourself Mr. Repulsive you have my respect at least the core of what makes you fight isn’t your insecure inability to be a part of society in any other way. Haha freakshow.

I really don’t care what he says or does, I still wanna roofie that blond muscled bimbo and turn him into my bottom boy pony boy slave for a couple hours.
