Swimmer Ricky Berens bares all in race

How tight are the newest swimsuits being used by the upper echelon of swimmers? Olympic gold medalist Ricky Berens found out when his suit split down the back and butt on the 4X100m starting block of the World Championships. He was allowed to race, even after Italian swimmer Flavia Zoccari was forced to sit out a race earlier this month when the same thing happened to her.

I am in Copenhagen at the Outgames and just saw this but I have one serious question for all your swimmers:
Would this tear slow a guy down enough to make a difference at the elite level?

Yes, it would slow the swimmer down. That gap between the suit and the top of the butt is going to create a huge amount of drag. You don’t even need to be a swimmer to know that.

Heard about it on Regis & Kelly on Tuesday Monring. Of course, they had to place a piece of tape over the guy’s ass crack in the photo Regis held up.

I wonder if this was just a preview for the 2010 model of the suit. Lots of complaints that they cover up way too much so maybe this is a compromise. Anyone remember the movie “So Fine”?
