Tennessee Titans running back LenDale White is reportedly the slimmest he’s been since high school, losing 30 pounds in the offseason. How’d he do it? He says it’s all thanks to quitting tequila.
“I really got to be honest,” White said. “It wasn’t a lot of major diet changes. (It was) watching what I drink. I was a big Patrón consumer. … That’s what it was. I was drinking a lot, drank a lot of alcohol. I cut that out of my diet all the way. I don’t drink at all. I cut the drinking, I stopped drinking for six months. It started falling off.”

Not only is alcohol high in empty calories but there is strong evidence that moderate drinking can actually be an appetite stimulant getting you to eat more while you drink or after a night of pounding beers at the bar.
“For moderate drinkers, alcohol does not suppress food intake, and may actually increase appetite.”

When I drink any alcohol, I just want to eat – and after two martinis all I can think about is a glazed cream-filled donut from Krispy Kreme!

Must be different for different body chemistries. Alcohol does not stimulate my appetite, and when they delay the meal in a restaurant that serves alcohol to get you to drink more, I lose my appetite as the alcoholic beverage fills me up.
Not only that, more alcohol dulls the taste buds so I don’t enjoy the food as much. I think there was a comment by a french oenologist that higher alcohol wines actually inebriate the drinker so that they don’t taste the finer notes of the wine. I think the same happens to my buds with any alcoholic beverage.

Beer is food around the Pac. NW. Hydraulic sangwiches in lue of a meal are common.

I’m still holding a grudge for what Lendale said to Esera during rookie sensitivity camp. Even though he’s USC, I don’t care much about him at all.
