The Philadelphia Phillies’ Gay Community Night notched another great success in its seventh year as Outsports member Larry Felzer’s event drew in an estimated 850 spectators to watch the home team play the Colorado Rockies. One of the local sports columnists said it was “refreshing that the Phillies held a public event reminding everyone that athletics aren’t simply the domain of heterosexual males.” Former out college football captain Brian Sims threw out the opening pitch. Despite being nervous about it for weeks, he bested Baba Booey and Barack Obama and got the pitch over the plate.
Carrying on another kind of tradition, the Phillies lost on Gay Night, 8-3. They are a dreadful 1-6 on Gay Night with their only win coming last year when they went on to win the World Series. As Gay Night goes, so goes the season . . . .

Last year was their only win on Gay Night. As for the “so goes the season…” line, things are very different now. The old paradigms were shattered last year.

I thought that was the case but was waiting to confirm, Joe. Thanks! I made the change.
