Tim Tebow shirtless in GQ

Via Deadspin comes word of Florida quarterback Tim Tebow’s photo spread in GQ. The photos GQ posted online include one of Tebow shirtless (below), but Deadspin reports on one it says is only found in the print magazine:

The lurid full-page centerfold of a sweaty, shirtless Tim Tebow is positively filthy …. and comes with drooling prose to match.

Jason Fagone, the writer of the Tebow piece, gushes like a teenage girl (or gay boy) over Tebow’s body:

Tebow is six feet three and 245 pounds, all thick polygons and smooth flat planes and inescapable corn-fed handsomeness. He’s wearing a billowy white shirt and loose-fitting jeans that somehow only underscore the solidity of his bulk, like a tarpaulin draped over a concrete pylon.

His chin is stubbly. He smells strongly of deodorant, and his thick-lashed eyes are impressively serene, considering that a mere forty-five minutes ago, back in the Florida weight room, Tebow was grunting next to a painted slogan that read pain is weakness leaving the body, doing calf raises with a 300-pound offensive lineman sitting on his shoulders. (In the weight room, Tebow wore a blue spandex shirt with an orange flame crawling up the sleeve; everyone else was in gray.)

The story also delves into Tebow’s intense religious beliefs, his impact on college football, his odds of making it in the NFL and … oh hell, what do we care? We just like the shirtless shot by Mark Seliger in the online photo gallery:

Couple weeks ago, S.I. did a cover story on him; it was a total hand-job, gushing over how swell Tebow is, how dedicated to doing good. No mention of (for one example) his controversial trip to Africa with his father to circumcize people against their will.

So this week came the letters-to-the-editor about the article and much to my delight, of the 9 letters they printed, 6 were anti-Tebow, along the lines of “great, just what the world needs: another football player to tell us that Jesus helped him win the Super Bowl”. And my favorite (from a San Franciscan, of course): “Bring back Kenny Stabler!” And this is S.I., whose readers are not exactly raging lefties. Most encouraging.

I am embarrassed for Jason Fagone. That excerpt is puke-worthy.

It’s not who Tim Tebow is, it’s how he plays the game. I saw Tim in action up close once at a Gator basketball game. He’s definitely “a player” and he knows how to work it towards guys and girls. He’s the real deal.

The fact that he’s a jesus freak totally took some of the lust out that I had for him.

circumcize people against their will? you mean babies, right? circumcision helps against the spread of AIDS, which is especially important in Africa. Not to mention foreskin is unhygenic and unsightly….

anyways at this point I have such bad Tebow-fatigue that it’s hard to look at him period, let alone find him attractive…

DruggyBear: I was under the impression the Tebows were circumcizing adults as well as babies; that was how the story was reported and I’d be happy to be corrected if wrong.

And yes, it does help prevent AIDS, but you can be sure the Tebows weren’t also distributing condoms, because condoms are evil instruments of Satan.

I am so over Tim Tebow. That piece by Jason Fagone makes me want to puke. It is that adulation that makes me tired of him.

I heard about S.I.’s anti-Tebow letters. I’m guessing that’s why they scrapped the second part of the interview. That’s where they discuss Tebow walking on water, turning water into wine, raising the dead, fixing the US healthcare system, rescuing the economy and ending the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan…all before morning scrimmage.

    1. Tebow is straight. 2. Tebow is one of those evangelical types, which makes it very likely he doesn’t think very highly of us ‘mos. Therefore, Tebow isn’t worth drooling over.

Who cares about this homo hatin “virgin” queen? He’s not that hot, he ain’t that good of a player, there are better…… so it seems to me that they’re pimping him out with whatever they can to make some money. The guy’s not even attractive when you look at him closely….. Big deal, so he hasn’t been laid,….. YEAH, RIGHT. And if you believe that then I bet you’d believe he’s never jerked off while thinking of some of his ball playin buddies either.

Tebow is noted by MANY coaches and players, alike, as being one of the best collegiate football players in history. He’s also been commended on and off the field for his sportsmanship and pleasant demeanor. It’s his athleticism, his personality, and his looks that make him so incredibly hot! Steroids? You’ve got to be kidding! Having met him in person, so not the case. He doesn’t have a “roid body”. Are you all really going to spout such negativity about a man, simply because he isn’t gay? Talk about hypocrisy! Not all Christians are anti-gay. I’m a devout Christian and part of my faith is accepting people for who they are and not judging them. I have dear friends from all walks of life. Sometimes it’s just about the person…and believe it or not, there ARE some good ones out there!

Tebow just happens to be the great white hype of the 09-10 season. He might be a talent but his skin color holds him back because the media often make white athletes into these fairy tale messiahs who work hard to exponentialize their “just above average talent” and do no wrong. This hard work ethic is hyped even when the athlete is “naturally gifted”. It sucks because it makes some fans want to root against these kids like they did Brady Quinn, Ron Powlus, Matt Leinart, etc.

About the religion thing, “Seriously” – you need to head to a local Metropolitan Community Church, because you’re not going to get the validation you seek from this message board. For those who weren’t offended by others expressing their beliefs on faith because we are trying not to judge, you judging them as Super Christian sounds a bit self-righteous and judgmental. Yes, I am judging you. Forgive me.

And I do believe Tebow is a virgin. The way he runs that tight cherry ass has never been tapped. I could only imagine.

OMG – I stumbled on this article wondering what all te fuss was about – and I can’t BELIEVE all you navel-gazing Amurricans!

Making such a big deal over a rather bland looking guy just because he’s got big thighs and appears good at one of the most lazy, obtuse (and openly homophobic) so-called “sports” the world has ever seen? A sport I might add, where most of the players are dressed like Transformers-Gone-Bad and spend more of their time standing around than golfers and lawn bowlers!

You Amurrican folks are NOT well served by your education system AT ALL – because it doesn’t teach you ANYTHING about the great big world outside of the boring ol’ US of A (that your media keeps trying to assure you is the best and only place on Earth worth paying the slightest attention to).

Personally I would take ANY grown-up, adult member of ANY Swedish pro hockey team or ANY member of ANY Italian or Spanish football (i.e. REAL football – what you insist on calling “soccer”) team player or just about any real Australian lifeguard in a trice before I’d bother to look twice at this big pasty post-teen mediocrity (spouting his pointless dogmatic “Christian bullshit) that you’re all panting over.

Not to mention this guy’s religion AND his “sport” has it in for all of you anyway. It’s like drooling over one of Hitler’s SS as they make gestures to point you toward the gas chamber. Sheesh!

Start travelling a bit people. See the world – and the REAL men in it with real sex appeal… and real brains. This guy’s just… blaaahhhhhhh…. yecccchhh…

No Doubt, the guy does (did) steroids and HGH during his Florida years. People can work out everyday the rest of their lives and never look like this. OfCourse, no doubt practically every player in the NFL is or was on roids at some point. FACT.

Good for Tim. Whether he’s straight or gay, he’s for the right to a living being to be brought into the world–a fertilizied egg left alone WILL become a unique person–FACT!–Tebow himself was ALMOST aborted on a doctor’s recommendation.

Ask this question, all you pro-abortionists–”pro-choice” is a Hollywood made-up word for PR purposes; given his circumstances, would Beethoven have been aborted? We lose much human potential through abortion without thought!
