Johnny Weir talks about sexuality

When Johnny Weir’s manager called me a couple weeks ago to see how we could work together, the first thing that popped into my mind is: don’t ask him, “Are you gay?” I’ve written several times in the past that I think Johnny (right, with his mom) has already answered that question and it isn’t a question anymore. Still, he’s never directly answered the question, so Jim and I knew I had to ask it somehow. In the second part of my interview with Johnny, we talked for several minutes about his views on sexuality.

A big thank you to all the people who submitted questions, like Larry, Jay, Cal and Brian. There were many more, and I’m sorry I couldn’t get to your question if I didn’t. I did ask George Twins fan’s question: For those of you who know him, take a wild guess which question that was!

It is important to see him as a person and his sexuality is private. Still some people have a strong interest in trying to get the answer to the question. Why is that soo important to them?

We need to see people as individuals. Nowadays there is a diversity of people and it seems like if we just accept people for what they are as long as they are good citizens then their private life is nobody’s business.
