Broncos beat Chargers, show they’re for real

I keep waiting for the Denver Broncos to wake up and realize they are supposed to be mediocre. But they keep surprising me and their 34-23 win at the San Diego Chargers on Monday night convinces me they are legit.

Denver used two kick returns for touchdowns by Eddie Royal and a suffocating defense to win at San Diego for the first time in four years. The Broncos have not allowed a point in the fourth quarter, which is amazing considering they have played some pretty good offenses (the Cowboys, Patriots and Chargers). At 6-0, the Broncos have a three-game lead in the AFC West over San Diego, which continues to be the most underachieving team in the league. Now, about those ugly Denver throwback socks — throw ‘em back!

The Chargers were a 2-2 team and didn’t have much of a running game before last night so I don’t know why they were the BIG TEST Denver was supposed to pass to prove they are for real.

But the Chargers always kick their butts in SD, so beating them and having a three-game division lead is big.

This just popped up as I read another story. I had been fooled by the Broncos too – so much for them being “real.”
