Joe is right. And it is nearly impossible to “preblock” ads from groups you don’t even know exist. All we can do is contact the ad service and have those ads blocked.

It was presumably — as are so many ads — auto-generated based on keywords on the page. We’ve seen this so often in the past it surprises me that people aren’t aware that it happens. Internet advertising isn’t like newspaper advertising, where you actually have to submit an ad personally to get it printed.

Why is there an ad for “Stand For Marriage” (the group behind the same-sex marriage repeal in Maine) on “Outsports”? “Outsports” can’t be so desperate for revenue it would actually take “SFM”‘s money. Is it some wise guy’s sick idea of a joke?

This wonderful old guy makes me proud to be a Maine-iac, and his heartfelt speech should be required viewing for everybody.

(Susan, you weren’t the only on who cried; I managed to keep it together until he talked about liberating the concentration camps. Then, the waterworks started.)
