Looks like Larry Johnson won’t be getting paid this week afterall: The Kansas City Chiefs cut the disappointing running back. Johnson started a firestorm last week when he used the words “fag” and “faggot” directed at the press and fans. But make no mistake: His release isn’t because of that. No team would release a productive player because he used any slur. Note the word “productive.” Johnson has become expendable to the team, and his rant against fans, the press and his coach sealed the deal.
Chances are slim you’ll see Johnson play another game this season. Looking at the worst rushing teams in the league this season, the only team I could see taking a shot on him is the Oakland Raiders, and that’s just because their personnel decision-makers are incompetent.

Not being snarky, but I could see New England picking him up, thinking they could rehab him like they did Corey Dillon and Randy Moss.
Pro Football Talk on his salary:
He’ll now be exposed to waivers. But unless someone wants to absorb his prorated $4.55 million base salary and $60,000-plus per-game roster bonus, he’ll clear waivers and become an unrestricted free agent.
Johnson also will be entitled to collect the balance of his base salary as termination pay — and to keep any money he makes if someone else signs him.

Attacking the HC through Twitter and using derogatory comments about gays just capped it off. Remember this is the man who said Herm Edwards understood him better than Dick Vermeil because they are both black…so this jerk ass is clearly a headcase. And the Raiders have enough to worry about with their bipolar headcoach.

I said Pioli would cut him when this first happened. No one agreed.

A Washington newspaper is reporting that the Redskins are considering signing him.
