Last night I was treated to suffered through an NBA game between the New Orleans Hornets and the Los Angeles Clippers. It was game number eight of their 82-game schedule. The Timberwolves, Warriors and Grizzlies should be ashamed of themselves for losing to this Clippers team. A couple friends I was with, who don’t watch basketball, asked quite honestly, “Is this a professional team?” The Hornets weren’t much better and still clobbered the hapless Clippers, 112-84. Why anyone would go to a Clippers game is beyond me (and given the arena was about a third full, I guess it’s beyond a lot of people).
The highlight of the evening was the 30 young kids who took the floor at halftime and danced hip-hop style to a medly of pop songs. It’s why I was there: My friend Jake Mason is the instructor for the group, called Pop Dance. The kids were cute and brought far more energy to the court than the guys sleep-walking up and down the court. If it wasn’t for halftime, I just might ask the Clippers for my money back.

Making 7/8 threes to start the game helped out the Hornets. That’s hard to do if no one is playing defense.
