Who will win the Texas-Alabama game?

Texas' Jordan Shipley

Texas' Jordan Shipley

Unlike Cyd (see post below), I will watch the BCS title game between Alabama and Texas. Not because I think the winner is the college football national champion (no one ever is with this flawed system), but because it’s a game pitting two unbeatens with a lot of national attention. I’m one who watches most big-time sports events, and this is one, like it or not.

Who will win? I like Texas, 26-17, for no reason other than I don’t want Nick Saban to have an enjoyable evening. Take our poll and see more of Longhorn receiver Jordan Shipley plus bonus shirtless shots of Alabama QB Greg McElroy.

I think Alabama will win, but I don’t like Saban and Jordan Shipley can take my poll anytime he wants (McCoy isn’t bad either), so I’m for Texas. McElroy, Ingram, McCoy, and Shipley all seem like nice guys though.

    Obviously anything can happen – “. . . . that’s why they play the game . . . ”

But I have a hard time seeing the scenario where Texas can beat Alabama in this game.

Can’t stand either team. To me they both speak to the bad element of college ball (as do most teams in the South) but of course I will watch it. If nothing else to see if the Texas kicker is still going commando.

Texas has a better quarterback and better recievers. Alabama has better defense. But what team will show up? Much rather watch Boise State.

This is a game you watch with the sound off, as I do with most NFL games. The announcers will drive you nuts with how great these teams are.

And is anyone getting tired of all the players who either tackle the quarterback or make a defensive play acting like they won the game singlehandedly? Why no one calls them on it which said how weak the games is getting. Still college ball is better and more entertaining than pro ball.

Texas by 7. Let’s hope the Cowboys lose this week-end or we will get stuck with hearing how great Texas is. Please save me.

Who will win? Most likely Alabama. The only way I have a dog in this fight is the fact that ‘Bama dealt my alma mater (Virginia Tech) our first loss in the first game of the season. Given that, and everyone else is going for ‘Bama, I’m picking the underdog Longhorns tonight.

The bowl picks I’ve made have held up so far, but tonight could bust that.

As an Auburn fan my favorite two teams are AUBURN and who ever is playing ‘bama. As a Coloradan it’s more “anyone but Texas”. For the SEC i’m goin’ with ‘bama. (almost choked when i tried typing roll tide)

Gee Jim. Haven’t you been reading the comments on improvements to the site? You post an article about who will win and show beefcake shots of Shipley and others to represent the teams. Thanks for degrading your site to soft porn. I thought we had some improvements in the making but it looks like that didn’t go far.

Dawson, you have probably already heard how great the state of Texas is. There’s a reason for that. Might just try to get used to it. The Texas basketball team is headed for a national championship, too, by the way. Let’s not forget the Spurs. And what’s this I hear about LeBron talking about wanting to go to the Rockets? Horns and Cowboys will both win. Greatest state in the union. And Bush was from Maine, not Texas.

Yea Bama’s looking REAL good in the opening drive. :) Overrated at this point but we still have an entire game ahead of us. Even the pass fake look stupid.

And Colt gets injured. Oh well.

Oh well, it was a good first few plays. Without McCoy it’s hard to put on a championship game with a true freshman QB with only a few snaps in a game.

Texas is still in the mix. Give Gilbert a hand for stepping up to the task. This game could go into overtime.

I’m not a fan of either coach but I LOVE college football, so I had to watch this last game of the season. Considering what happened to Colt early in the game… well, the second half was pretty exciting. Props to the freshman Gilbert for finding his stride before the end of the game. Hopefully it’ll give him confidence heading into next season.
