‘Gay’ Peyton Manning wins MVP award

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning won a record fourth NFL MVP award in a landslide.  When the news was posted on Pro Football Talk, there were the predictable comments praising Manning or decrying the choice.

But one comment had me both laughing and saying WTF for its sheer idiocy — Manning was chosen because he’s gay:

this is crap and not only that is there is a very good chance the NFL is rigging awards towards someone who might be a homosexual! and I sure as hell don’t want a gay role model for my children, nothing wrong with gays but I sure as heck ain;t want no gay children running around my hood popping bones when taking snaps…….

Wow, I follow the Colts and even I didn’t know Manning was on our team. I am sure this news will have Cyd rushing to jump on the Colts bandwagon.

Looks like it’s been spread as rumor for a while. Google “Peyton Manning gay” and there are links back to 2004. I’d much rather have Eli.

I have rolled my eyes at a couple Manning MVP awards in the past (last year was a joke). But this year he was the MVP. He did an amazing job rotating various new receivers into the offense, and with a badly injured defense he kept them in games. There just wasn’t a better choice: He had a great season.

Peyton has shown a distinct preference for being paddled by Justin Timberlake on national television when it comes to playing with little balls.

Cyd, see what you wrote here?

Why doesn’t that EXACT statement apply to Drew Brees as well. He was superior to Manning in EVERY statistical category except total yards (by 112, but Manning threw 57 more passes). An NFL-record completion percentage, led the league in QB rating, more TDs, better TD/INT ratio. You name it, Brees was better.

The only thing Peyton did was lead seven 4th quarter comebacks. Brees led three, including twice when the team was down by 10 or more. No other quarterback in the league did that even ONCE this season. And what seven 4th quarter comebacks out of 14 wins tells me is that Manning didn’t do his job for three quarters for half the season. That’s your MVP?

I absolutely adore Peyton. I’ve always had a little bit of wonder about who’s balls he might be handling. I’d consider that a huge win to have him on our team. He’s a great athlete, a cutie pie in his commercials, and is a true sportsman. And OMG, is he SEXY. I wouldn’t turn down Eli, but I’ll take Peyton first. Oh, wait – we’re supposed to be talking about whether he deserved the MVP. Sorry, love him.

If I had to choose one of their butts, it would be Eli’s.

    Robert M,

I’ll tell you why, because STATS aren’t everything. Thats why Brady is better than Manning, because Brady has been more clutch and more valuable to his team than Peyton – even though Peyton has the statistical advantage. Nevertheless, the most important thing is that Brady has not CHOKED in the playoffs, whereas Manning has, and thus winning more Super Bowls. Brady + Super Bowls > Manning + Stats

However, I will agree that Manning was VERY deserving this year of the MVP award. Manning turned two inexperience, otherwise considered, pedestrian receivers at best, into considerable threats. He had NO running game to back him up like the Brees, other teams KNEW that the Colts would be throwing, yet Manning was able to put up very respectable stats.
And he had to keep his team in the game because Colts defense is mediocre at best, and most defensive starters were DTD or on IR…

Brees in turn, had run support, great receiving corp, decent defense… but he’s inconsistent. Manning = 14-0 perhaps 16-0 if he wasn’t pulled. Brees = 13-3 with Brees playing all the games, losing to the lowly Bucs and almost losing to the Rams and ‘Skins had his defense didn’t step up their game and give Brees and Co another chance to score. I rest my case.

I resound Tek’s comments. I like Brees much more than Manning, but watching both this season I was much more impressed by Manning.

Well him being MVP last year didn’t help them win in the post season either, so guess we will see how it goes for them this year….still don’t see them getting past the Chargers.

But congrats to him, though I wonder if the award speaks more to his ability or people’s views of the rest of the Colts team.

I don’t have a problem with Peyton Manning getting another MVP award. Phillip Rivers will be winning the Super Bowl MVP thank you. And I certainly wouldn’t mind if he turned out to be gay. I know there are some gay guys in pro sports who are forced to stay in the closet. And honsetly, with the way they all look from behind, I would rather have Peyton, Eli, Brees, Romo, and Alex Smith all play at tight end, if you know what I mean.

You should have waited until after today’s Ravens game to write that. Brady was awful, he didn’t give his a team a chance to win at all.

Tom Brady is a winner. He played with 8 broken ribs today against one of the best defenses in NFL history. He definitely didn’t choke. Manning on the other hand, has had some questionable moments going back to his college days when he lost the Heisman trophy to Brady teammate and fellow UM standout Charles Woodson. The image of Manning on the bench after a losing effort in a big game with that look on his face, shaking his head, is much more memorable than him lifting any trophy or award. I personally despise the Ravens but give them some credit. Hopefully the Colts will be able to stop them next week.

Peyton Manning and Tom Brady are just two MVP studs that just do nothing for me! Peyton I find particularly asexual! Some of the studs they are throwing the ball to, thats a different story! Congrats Peyton!
