Lot of drama over nothing. If you agree with Focus on the Family, you will go to the website. If you dont, you wont…so yet again something was completely overblown for no apparent reason.

I don’t think that the two organizations are comparable, only because FOTF isn’t a terrorist organization that endorses and commits acts of violence, but I get your point. But, I do think that they have as much right to air an issue ad as gay rights orgs have to put pro-equality ads out. I also think that those who aren’t that committed to any one side of the debate are going to look at the ad and not get the controversy. They’re going to wonder why people are calling these folks bigots, and they’ll go to the website to see the full interview, and they’ll click links to issues, and they’ll consume a bunch of skewed information. I think this was a huge win for them, and i think we gave it to them.

My gayday goes off for Tim. He pings like crazy. Riley Cooper too. I think Tim is a pro-life gay man. I also do not think he knew that Focus on the Famil is so anti-gay. I think he’s being told what to do. But, who knows. He certainly pings.

While I recognize the strong distaste for the organization among GLBT people and pro-choice activists, i don’t see the misogyny. In both ads the message affirms the mother’s choice – albeit, they encourage the choice in favor of not having an abortion, but it seems to me that if you are truly in favor of empowering women to make a choice as personally complicated as whether or not to terminate a pregnancy it makes sense to provide them with as much information as possible on both sides of the issue, before they make that choice.
