Austin gay softball players attacked

Two gay softball players in Austin were assaulted over the weekend in what they are calling a hate crime. Matthew Morgan and Emmanuel Winston say they left the gay bar Oil Can Harry’s in their softball uniform and were physically attacked by four men yelling anti-gay epithets. Said Morgan:

I’m not gonna go through this and nothing…no action be taken. This is a walk that I’ve made, that probably everyone on this field has made numerous times and felt safe.

Video after the jump.

There is also a protest march this Saturday.

Hat tip to Jimmy B. and Towleroad.

Shut the hell up and carry a fucking gun/weapon.

Much good some measly parade will do to convince the vile homophobes to stop beating gay people.

There’s no greater deterrent than making yourself an unappealing target.

I don’t condone violence of any sort. However, I believe in self-defense whether that be martial arts or a gun with a license to carry one.

Gaybashers use baseball bats to greviously hurt their victims. Gay men carrying baseball bats will actually be a deterrent to the bashers! Guns with licenses to conceal-carry, too.

Is violence really the answer? Maybe it’s because I’m Canadian, but I don’t see the point in carrying a gun.

In Austin, if you walk softly, you damn well better carry a big stick.
