Glee, Kurt Hummel to get gay quarterback

It looks like a gay (or at least curious) athlete will soon be a part of the hit show GLEE. The uber-gay Kurt Hummel is about to get a boyfriend, and it’s going to be the quarterback of the football team. According to E!:

Rumors that new cast member Chord Overstreet [right] will play Chris Colfer’s on-screen boyfriend appear to be true.

“They’ve cast him already,” Jane Lynch told us last night at the Audi and Chopard Emmy party when we asked about Kurt’s much-anticpiated love interest. “He becomes the new star quarterback and he’s going to be Kurt’s boyfriend.”

Please please please please PLEASE may he know how to throw a football!

    I hope they explain why one would be attracted to the other, and not just assume that two gay kids must end up together. At first blush, the quarterback getting with the queeny kid seems a bit absurd.

    The “jock and queenie” connection might seem strange to a lot of readers of Outsports but it certainly seems to happen a lot from what I’ve seen.

    And its’ not just jocks but other “masculine” guys who seem to be seeking a woman with a penis, whether top or bottom.

    Maybe it’s just a matter of taste, a transition thing or a way of denying that they are gay. But to me it’s like a racial preference.

    He looks like a Major chord. I wonder if he is an augmented chord in certain areas. (an attempt at musical humor).

    Masculine and feminine guys end up together quite a bit. The old opposites attract adage I guess. To me, it’s just another trait that one might find attractive in another person – sort of like tall or short; red, blonde, black or brown hair; dark or light complexion; long or short hair; lanky or stocky build.

    What I’ve never understood is why it would bother someone which particular traits another person is attracted to.

    @Mike and sportinlife:

    I certainly agree that different people have different tastes. I just hope they indulge in this discussion on the show, and not just leave it at “those two gay kids must end up together, regardless of other characteristics.”

    @runner:

    Well, better augmented than diminished!

    @Kevin

    A dominant Chord or subdominant Chord?

    It just seems to me that most of the young gay characters on tv or the movies are really attractive. In real life, not ALL gay people are that cute. Is this an attempt to portray gay guys as really ordinary “non-queeny” types? Well, they are nice to look at anyway. :)

    you know it actually is possible seeing as how kurt is also on the football team. they couldve gotten close that way. (i honestly forgot he played football until jsut now) but im sure if anything that will be their primary connection.

    @Bob, not all of the gay characters are attractive…think of Sandy Ryerson. O.o Haha.

    Anyway, I am SO PSYCHED that Kurt will get a boyfriend!!!!! :D :D :D I’ve wanted it to happen since about half-way through season one.
