Out speed skater Blake Skjellerup is in England this weekend at the ISU World Short Track Championships. In his first event, the 1500-meter, he wasn’t able to get out of the quarterfinals finishing 4th in his heat. But as he told me via Skype, he’s just coming off a really bad flu and he has much better events ahead this weekend.
Today was not my strongest day. The 1500 is not my strongest distance and coming off 2 weeks of sickness really puts you at a disadvantage for the longer distances. The 500 and 1000 meter distances are where I make my moves and I am putting aside todays disappointment to move on and focus for the those.
The 500-meter is Saturday and the 1,000-meter is Sunday. Good luck, Blake!
