Saturday Night Live did a send-up of the controversy surrounding various racially sensitive comments about Jeremy Lin late last week (video here). The skit reflects what we’ve heard from various comments on Outsports and other sites: The ‘chink in the armor’ and other comments would have been handled with more ferocity if they were about another race.
Does SNL make a point? What would be the reaction if the guy made homophobic comments? And is it possible that SNL actually had a funny skit?

The skit was funny because it’s true.
Of course the racism against Asians is not taken as seriously as racism against other minorities. Just look at that racist ad that ran during the Superbowl this year. Or what happened during the Olympics with the Spanish team making their eyes “look Asian.” That’s why I was so happy when Spain got their asses kicked, and it’s why I still don’t like the Gasol brothers. Rubio was young when that happened so it’s possible he didn’t know any better, and was just following the example set by the older guys on his team.
I think if there was a headline that said faggot, dyke, etc, etc, that someone would get fired over it.
