Are you as tired of Brett Favre’s Wrangler commercials as I am? Well Funny Or Die brings the perfect cure for Favre-Wrangler blues (produced by The Midnight Show, a sketch comedy show in L.A.). Oh. My. God. You’ll never watch those commercials the same way again.

I stumbled across a review for the film Big Fan today. I remember hearing about it when The Wrestler came out, as Robert Siegel wrote both scripts. The film’s been out since August, but it barely made a blip on any radar screens; It broke the top 50 in box office receipts just one weekend. [...]

For some reason, CBS’ “NFL Today” had the political pollster Frank Luntz on to dissect which players communicated well. Luntz was billed as a “language expert” for his use of meters to register how people feel when they watch other people speak.
In his dissection of a clip of Terrell Owens (in which the receiver scored [...]

Do you believe in karma? If you do and you’re a Cincinnati Bengals fan, you may want to shield your eyes from the rest of the season. The Bengals have signed running back Larry Johnson as an “insurance” policy against injuries to their other running backs, including Cedric Benson who’s nursing a hip injury.
On the [...]

This was supposed to be his third chance. His big breakout. Brady Quinn was being named the starter of the Cleveland Browns for the third time in the last two seasons, and we were finally going to see the player who earned first-round draft status. And then he had to play a game…and had one [...]

Buffoonish Tennessee Titans owner Bud Adams flipped the middle finger to Buffalo Bills fans during Sunday’s Bills-Titans game in Nashville. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell was in attendance. Adams later apologized and was fined $250,000 Monday by the NFL. Video:

All anyone is discussing around the NFL today is the end of the Colts’ 35-34 stunner over the Patriots on Sunday night. Not the Colts coming back from 17 down in the fourth, but Patriots’ coach Bill Belichick’s decision to go for it on 4th and 2 from HIS OWN 28 with a little over [...]

Wow, what a great trade the Chicago Bears made in getting quarterback Jay Cutler. He was going to be the missing piece that would finally give Chicago a big-league quarterback.
The Bears and their fans must be having buyers’ remorse after Cutler’s latest flameout — five interceptions in a 10-6 loss at San Francisco; the last [...]

Philadelphia Eagles tight end Brent Celek will be the first, and last, NFL player to get away with hawking a rum company. The league has outlawed doing what is known as the “Captain Morgan pose,” named after the pose struck by the cartoon pirate of Captain Morgan rum.
In hopes of raising brand awareness, Captain Morgan [...]

With all the Me! Me! Me! athletes in pro sports looking for attention, it’s so refreshing to see an NFL player quietly focused on humanitarian work. While other guys were going to college football games and hanging out with their family, Madieu Williams of the Minnesota Vikings did this on his bye week:
He traveled back [...]

The Washington Post’s NFL blog, The League, has a panel discussion up as to whether ex-Kansas City Chiefs running back Larry Johnson (he of the “faggot” slurs) can hook up with another team. I was invited to share my views and we all pretty much agree on this: If teams think LJ can still play, [...]

Tom Brady is rich, has three Super Bowl rings and a wife who’s a model. But based on a Boston Globe photo contest, there a lot of New England Patriots fans who think they could be his body double in a movie.
The Globe has asked readers to submit photos of people who look like various [...]

Looks like Larry Johnson won’t be getting paid this week afterall: The Kansas City Chiefs cut the disappointing running back. Johnson started a firestorm last week when he used the words “fag” and “faggot” directed at the press and fans. But make no mistake: His release isn’t because of that. No team would release a [...]

The NFL wanted the Kansas City Chiefs to go much easier than the team did after Johnson used three anti-gay slurs two weeks ago. The Chiefs suspended Johnson for two weeks and one paycheck that totals $330,000. But the NFL suggested the Chiefs not suspend Johnson and fine him only $10,000, reports Nancy Gay of [...]
