Ray says: I want to express my gratitude not only to the people I photographed, but to the Gay Games itself, which now for the fourth time have provided me with life-changing, mind-blowing events. I thought I was going to Chicago only to photograph these games, but somehow found the inspiration and courage to run, and I came home with a bronze medal that means the world to me. It is supposed to all be about achieving your personal best, and in terms of my medal, and my pictures, I know that I have.
