Dr. Eric Anderson is a researcher and lecturer of sociology at the
State University of New York, Stony Brook. He has a doctorate in
sociology from the University of California Irvine and is well known
for his dynamic lecturing on issues pertaining to sport, gender,
sexuality and homophobia. Dr. Anderson is the nation’s expert in
understanding the relationship between gay male athletes and sport,
and is the author of several books and publications on the subject,
including his latest
In the Game: Gay Athletes and the Cult of Masculinity, where he
examines openly gay athletes at all levels of organized sport. He
has also penned an autobiography titled
Trailblazing: America’s First Openly Gay High School Coach.
