  Well, we can all dream and drool a bit, can’t we?  To me Lochte is the cuter of the 2, but Phelps is so BIG, he would be a good adventure to be with!

  Since the early 80’s, my gaydar has always been 100% on target with various male (and female) celebrities I outed before they outed themselves. The other night, I caught a shot of the NBC cameras that clearly showed Phelps LOVINGLY looking at Lochte, much more so than could have been imaginary. Though it was as quick as a Phelps clocked win, timewise, it was there, I saw it. My well honed gaydar and sixth sense immediately went off and I said “They’re lovers”. Shotly thereafter, during the standard NBC Today show interviewer question with Phelps “Do you have a girlfriend?, c’mon tell us, who are you dating? c’mon who is the lucky girl?” that every talk show rams down the throat of every male celebrity, to my non surprise, the also standard (dinosaur aged) closeted gay male celebrity response from Phelps came next: “I’m too busy with my [Olympic] Swimming career right now to worry about a relationship” (!). This very old chestnut has been perennially used by other gay male celebrities ad nauseaum. Always look for it as a primary telltale sign, yep, they’re gay. Lochte seems to bypass similar questions with his textbook cutesy cookiness and “I’m just a crazy guy” excuse.Watch as the years roll on and Phelps and Lochte finally come out of the closet - I am sure their other story will also come out - even if they are not “lovers” in the classic sense, they are definitely getting it on, physically, in the Olympic village. (Oh to have access to the hallway security footage of the shenanigans of the Olympians….)Later,Ed

  Lochte is not gay, I don’t know about Phelps but lochte isn’t gay at all…your gaydar clearly sucks, i went to UF and I know that lochte has a girl

  Oh yeah — ‘having a girl’ is a surefire indication that a person isn’t gay.  Just as not having one is proof that a person IS.  ‘Gaydar’ speculation is just that, speculation.  Fun, but meaningless until there’s actual evidence.  It makes sense for Ed to get his 2 cents on record, but it’s like all other predictions — if it pans out, he’ll look like a sage, and if it doesn’t, no one will remember.

  And who cares anyway?? Unless they are making gay porn for all the world to see, who gives a shit what they do in private, isn’t it enough that Phelps has proven to be the greatest Olympian of all time?

  I think Ed is a little overboard in saying that he can state with 100% certainty from a TV clip 8,000 miles away that Phelps and Lochte are having a relationship.
  However, I agree that Phelps is probably gay. He reminds me very much of a friend who came out in his late twenties and who had been an Olympic hopeful when younger - after he did finally come out, he even competed in the gay games. Phelps may not be able to come out for another 10 years or so because of his sponsors/ deals/ fame, but I do think he is gay and will come out eventually.

  Not to be disrespectful to the person that said the one guy has a girlfriend but let me clue you into something. Just because someone has a girlfriend or wife and there an athlete doesn’t mean they don’t fool around with another guy. now I’m not saying all do it but I know from first hand experience that it does happen and more than you know. A good friend of mine is in a relationship with a former MLB player and no he wasn’t some mid-level guy you never heard of he was real good when he played. I just keep it to myself because he still has a wife and kids. so yes having a girlfriend means little. In saying that I also think that Mike is gay no doubt about it.

  I agree that having a girlfriend means nothing.  I regularly get together with this married guy who looks so much like Phelps it isn’t funny.  Same height, body style, same silly grin.  Each time I’ve seen Phelps smiling at the end of a race it’s sent a tingle right to all my important parts.  So, I hope someone else is getting that tingle in person.

  Well, with that lisp Phelps has and being brought up by three girls, his overbearing mother, two older sisters, the changes of his being gay are not in Phelpes favor, and yes, I saw the way Phelpes looked at Lochte and if they are not lovers, someone has a crush! Hey, then, maybe, Lochte is holding on to the golden cow, no pun intended.  Helll, Lotchte’s father looked like an old queen, in fact, when, I first saw him, I just thought he was the coach, not Lochtes father, I was thinking, what an old queen, bet he has a good time with that swimming team in the shower,  his hair was just done so, marcelled, I think they call it?As the announcer said many times, Lochte is the only one that Phelpes confides in, sure, I really wonder how? After all, they are roomates, Hmm, Phelpes is the woman in that relationship, as Lochte seems like a wild and crazy guy! As for having a girlfriend, give me a break, even Elton John, the “REAL QUEEN OF ENGLAND” HAD a few and even had a sham marriage, before he admited he had the soccer club he bought just to get at the boys. Not everything is seems, trust me, as being one of the most beautiful men in the world (or, at least that is what they used to say), I have had movie stars that I adored put the make on me, which, shocked the hell out of me, but, I was a male model and B movie actor, I soon learned, that is I didn’t put out, with male and female bosses, AKA: powers that be, I would not make it in the business. So, I got married to a millionairess and have lived happily ever after.  So, everyone AND your never will be’s, or, unhappilly married cows, give it up, Phelps will never marry, unless it is to hide his gayness, but, maybe, he will surprise us all and come out, when Lochte breaks his heart and his WALLET?

  not sure who is gay and who is not. however, both guys are hot. Lochte is gorgeous more so than two years ago. Amazing guy!

None of this has anything to do with being gay (you must be 80 years old).  Those theories are so passe’ that it’s embarrassing.  People are born gay ~ Finnish research is indicating it has to do with the amygdala portion of the brain;  there is more studying to do.   Further, you make it sound like a bad thing (i.e., his chance aren’t good).  I encourage you to be accepting and jump into the 21st Century where it is best to be your authentic self, whoever you are.  Gosh.
