Glen
White from Millerton, a small town in upstate New York, won
our contest for a Wilson tennis racket signed by Billie Jean
King.White is an an
elementary school teacher. A huge fan of tennis, he also
enjoys baseball, football, and college basketball. White
played college tennis and lacrosse and has coached high
school tennis.
The racket was given away in
connection with the HBO documentary on the making
of a tennis legend and women's activist who shook up the
court and the culture, "Billie Jean King: Portrait of A
Pioneer."
The contest
was simple: Each day for six days we posted a new question
about the career of King, the first woman to be named as
Sports Illustrated's Sportsperson of the Year. We drew
White's name at random from a list of those who correctly
answered one of the questions.
